on:“Kaise Kahoon” (1964) was a Vrindawan Pictures production movie. It was directed by Atmaram. The movie had Biswajeet, Nanda, Om Prakash, Durga Khote, Naaz, Geetanjali, Nimbalkar, Manmohan Krishna, Asit Sen, Rehman etc in it.
Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nanda who is seen all decked up and waiting for her beloved to arrive after a hard day’s work.
Looking at the picturisation of this song, I cannot help but feel that housewives of 1960s actually took their cues from songs like this. They would deck themselves up in the evening in time for their spouse to arrive from work.
I am sure that such a thing may be happening in many households even today. But while in those days the housewives may look forward to going out in the evening with their spouse, perhaps to a movie show, in case the spouse was in the proper mood. Nowadays one can watch all the movies one wants at home itself so watching movies may not quite be the same experience as it was those days.
I think that the lives of most readers of this blog are nowhere near as simple as they showed in Hindi movies of the golden era. Things have changed tremendously from those days. Most people now adays may be arriving back home quite late at night and they may be far more busy in their lives that the characters of Hindi movies.
Speaking for myself, when I come back home in the evening, my pets are very happy to see me back. The do not sing a song while awaiting my return though. 🙂
Coming to this song, it is written by Shakeel Badayuni. Music is composed by S D Burman.

sapnon ke ban mein
papeeha man ka

miley mujhe rasiyaa
balam man basiyaa
miley mujhe rasiyaa
balam man basiyaa
khushiyon ke din aa gaye
aayi meri duniyaa mein
jhoomti bahaaren
aayi meri duniyaa mein
jhoomti bahaaren
rang anokhe chhaa gaye
rang anokhe chhaa gaye
laage re jaise nainon mein madiraa
koyi gholey
hauley hauley
jiyaa doley
sapnon ke ban mein
papeeha man ka
pi pi boley
ga re sa re ga ma pa
pa pa pa re ma ga sa re ni sa
ga ma pa dha ni sa pa ma ga
haaye jab saiyyan
thaamenge mori baiyyaan
haaye jab saiyyaan
thaamenge mori baiyyaan
laajon se mar jaaungi
chhuenge kalaiyyaa
to doongi duhaiyyaa
chhuenge kalaiyyaa
to doongi duhaiyyaa
haathh na unke aaungi
haathh na unke aaungi
naina milaa ke na jaane balmaa
kya kya bolen
hauley hauley
jiyaa doley
sapnon ke ban mein
papeeha man ka
pi pi boley
