Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Pyaar ke palchhin beete huye din

Posted on: March 18, 2013

“Kunwaari” (1966) was produced by R N Mandloi for Ravi Kala Chitra Production. It was directed by S N Tripathi. The movie had Indrani Mukherjee, Ravindra Kapoor, Jeevan, Tabassum,Leela Mishra,Prem Chopra, Murad, Sunder, Shammi,Tuntun,Mridula, S N Tripathi, Mumtaz Begum, Babu Raje, Khursheed, RajKishore, Susheela, Sheela Kashmiri, Chanda Bai, Daya Devi, Ajeet , Maula, Omprakash, Munshi Munakka, Safdar, RadheShyam, Ameeta, Anwari, Meera, Helen, Shashi, Chhunni etc in it.

The movie is quite an obscure one and its songs are no different.

Here is a song from this movie. This song has two versions. The female version is sung by Lata and it is lip synced by Indrani Mukherji as a piano song in a “get together” situation with others like Ravindra Kapoor, Tabassum, Sunder, Babu Raje, Murad etc also visible in the picturisatiojn. The male version is lip synced by Ravindra Kapoor in Talat Mehmood’s voice in a more private setting, with only Sundar, Murad and Indrani Mukherji visible in the picturisation of this version.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by S N Tripathi.

This song (in both its version) must be regarded as a forgotten gem. The song certainly deserve to be better known among music lovers.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Thanks for uploading 2 good songs. In the movie, Talat’s version comes firs, Picturised on Ravindra Kapoor. He was paired with Indrani Mukerji, then they are separated & some other guy’s parents come to see Indrani & on their request, Indrani sings the same song in the party, but she was not able to finish the song so her younger sister, played by Tabassum completes the song!
The film was not worth remembering except the songs. Prem Chopra, 2nd person to come in Indrani’s life, sings the famous ‘Ghungharava bole chhum chhanan chum’ a western song,on Indian words! A rare western tune from SN Tripathi!!

The song is from ‘Girl Friend’. released in around 1961. Kishore was paired with Waheeda rehman. ‘Kashti ka Khamosh safar..’ is the most popular song of the movie.

I suppose since Raag Shivranjani has been used in many songs, the tune seems familiar 🙂

I m very much happy today that your team has given us the REAL GEM,
I used to play lataji’s version bcoz I had 78 rpm record with me.In our musical circle I always tell my group people that in vivdhbharati a song from KUNWARI is played once in six months, but that song is Ghungarva bole chhanchhananchhan, and not pyar ke pal chhin, its vividhbharati
s habit that they always play ULTI SIDE,then our people used to ask
me SEEDHI SIDE kab bajegi ? My reply was I donno.Believe me in those days I did not hear Lataji’s version even once .I had seen full movie on video too.-.SNT has played piano ,very very rare combination
.
Thank u very much for this TREAT
