Suno suno kanyaaon ka vernan

Out of all the Kapoors, my favourite is SHASHI KAPOOR. The reasons for this are many.
One- In looks, he was the exact replica of his Grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor in his youth. Just see Prithviraj kapoor in SIKANDAR-42 or any other film of the 40s, and you will marvel at the amazing resemblance !
Two- he was one of the most Gentlemanly actors that the Industry has ever produced. He was punctual, very professional, no tantrums, no demands from any Producer, very courteous to women and seniors and yesteryear actors.
Three- When he appeared as a Hero in his first film DHARAMPUTRA-1961, he did excellent acting. He showed guts in accepting such a film on his debut, which was rejected by many others due to its volatile subject matter. and
Four- He gave very less interviews, never got embroiled in any controversy with any Heroine or others and was a total family man.
These, I think are enough reasons to like a person.
Born on 18-3-1938 at Calcutta, as Balbir Raj, his journey towards Hero’s role was through acting as a child actor and then working as assistant Directors to many, including his world famous eldest brother Raj Kapoor-the Legend.
He did 116 films in his career-63 as a Solo Hero, 53 multistarrer films, in addition to 22 films as a supporting actor and 5 films as ‘special appearance’.
I liked SHASHI KAPOOR in Dharamputra, Deewar and Trishul.
He acted with Nanda in 8 films, most of them being hits in those times.
Nanda was senior to him, but she agreed to work with him in 8 films, because, according to her,” He was my favourite Hero”.
Shashi Kapoor had once said that Nanda wasnot only his favourite Heroine, but she was his Mentor too, as she helped him get established in the indusrty when he was new.
Today-18th March 2013- is his BIRTHDAY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHASHI JI. He turns 75 today.
Like all Kapoors Shashi Kapoor has also become shapelessly fat, but has managed his health very well. He was last seen publicly in his brother Shammi Kapoor’s last rites.
Today we will enjoy a Parody song filmed on Shashi Kapoor in the film HASEENA MAAN JAYEGI-1968. In this film his Heroine was Babita. This song is a bit long one and in most part Shashi is in Drags.
This was a Mangatram Film presentation, directed by Prakash Mehra-one of the Directors with ‘a Golden touch’. Mehra has written two songs in this film, including this Parody song.
Shashi kapoor has done a double role in this film-of good and bad characters.
The story outline is-
Two look alikes Kamal and Ramesh ( Shashi kapoor in both roles) love the same girl Archana (Babita). She loves Kamal, but gets confused many times herself and Ramesh takes advantage of this.
The love birds are to be married, but Ramesh kidnaps Kamal before marriage in order to replace himself as a groom. However, his goons too get confused and Kamal is successful in escaping and reaching at the marriage site in time.
After marriage,Kamal joins Army, when the 1962 war breaks out.
Ramesh wants to finish him off. They both fight and fall in a trench. From the trench, only one of them comes out and goes to Archana as her husband.
She is very happy. After some time, she starts suspecting that he may not be Kamal, but may be Ramesh. Ultimately she hands him over to the Police on charges of illegal impersonation.
At this time the real Ramesh, who has survived the trench fight, surfaces and everything is clear and the film ends with happiness for all, except, ofcourse, Ramesh.
Though the storyline follows the beaten track, not many were bothered about the film’s story. Those were the days when movies were seen for songs, scenery, entertainment, beautiful girls, dances and fights. They got all of it in this film, so why worry about a credible story ?
Here is the parody song from the movie. The song is sung by Rafi and a female sounding voice which is acrtually the voice of Mahesh Kumar. Prakash Mehra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. The picturisation shows Shashi Kapoor lip syncing in the male as well as the female voice, and he is dressed as a male and female respectively while doing so.

ek aag ek paani,
ek prem deewaani
sabse uttam woh jo o o
apni na begaani

ek aag ek paani,
ek prem deewaani
sabse uttam woh jo
apni na begaani
begaani,
suno suno,
suno suno
mere desh ki ladki
ee ee ee ee ee ee ee ee
mere desh ki ladki sona nigle nigle heere moti
mere desh ki ladki
hoy hoy
mere desh ki ladki
are jisne mujhse pyaar kiya,
bas usaka beda gark huaa
bas usaka beda gark huaa
mera nark sa jeevan swarg huwa, tera swarg sa jeevan nark huwa
tera swarg sa jivan nark huwa
yahaan apna paraaya koyi nahin
yahaan apna paraaya koyi nahin
jo haath laga woh saaf huaa
jo haath laga woh saaf huaa
ho suno suno
suno suno
kal aane ka waada karake,
aaj talak nahin aaye
hmm hmmm
o jhoothe
o paapi
tera satyaanaash ho jaaye
tatpunjiyon se na ankhiyaan milaana
tatpunjiyon se na ankhiyaan milaana
tatpunjiyon ka kya hai thhikaana aa
tatpunjiyon se na ankhiyaan milaana
tatpunjiyon se na ankhiyaan milaana
chulloo bhar paani mein doobke mar jaana
tatpunjiyon se na ankhiyaan milaana
tatpunjiyon se na ankhiyaan milaana
jogan ban jaaungi nathu tore kaaran
jogan ban jaayungi nathu tore kaaran
o nathu tore kaaran,
o fatu tore kaaran
jogan ban jaaungi nathu tore kaaran
tu khota tera pyaar bhi khota,
bepende ka tu hai lota
tu hai lota
o thaali ke baingan kaale
o thaali ke baingan kaale
maar ke apne dil par taale
main jhumaritalaiya
jhumaritalaiya jaaungi nathu tore kaaran
o nathu tore kaaran,
o fattu tore kaaran
jogan ban jaaungi nathu tore kaaran
unki hoon kabhi inki,
teri hoon kabhi iski
peene mein main tharra hoon,
aur dikhne mein main hoon whisky
chal jhoothi
abb aage teri marzi
abb aage teri marzi
ho more saiyaan
o more balama bedardi
aage teri marji
aage teri marji phalnava,
aage teri marji kisanava
aage teri marji
yeh mere pyaar ke ummeedwaar baithe hain
kahin shikaar kahin par shikaar baithe hain
shakal pe baarah bajaake beemaar baithe hain
shakal pe baarah bajaake beemaar baithe hain
woh maaldaar hain toh yeh udhaar baithe hain
abb aage teri marzi
abb aage teri marzi
ho more saiyaan
o more balama bedardi
aage teri marji

The female voice indeed is of Mahesh kumar. The HFGK also mentions his name and that is why I too had mentioned his name.He was famous for singing songs in 2 voices in his programmes of ” Mahesh kumar and Party ” in the late 60s and most of 70s.he had programmes all over the world.

Arunkumarji,
In the third line of your post ,you have written Prithviraj to be grandfather of Shashi. .Actually he is the father. I am rather surprised at this mistake from you.Or is it a typo? I am still surprised that it is not pointed out by any one till this time.

The female voice is that of Mahesh Kumar . I recall seeing him long back on Doordarshan singing Hindi film songs copying some of the top female playback singers.
