This song is there with for some time now. In fact I had saved the link long back, never got around to even writing down the lyrics. Than some days ago I chanced upon a link of Radio Cylon Rafi special programme on 31/07/2012. This song was the first to be played in that programme. I thought I know the song, so it must be posted. Lekin, jab song blog mein nahin milaa to iss ko aur andhere mein rakhnaa na insaafi hai.
This is the only Rafi solo song in the film ‘Sabak’ (1950). It is special song in an unassuming way. Late 40’s and early 50’s were the beginning of the golden era of hindi films. When ever I hear a Rafi song from that period, it is difficult to leave the song and move on to a newer period songs. It makes me think that I was born some 30 years late. But than if I was born thirty years earlier and be a teenager in the 50’s, I might even be dead by now. So no ‘nahm’ to give nondescript(read : disreputable) song posts in atulsongaday, which few people read anyway. So I might as well go back in time and be born in 1939. Flights of fancy are boundless.

The lyricist is D N Madhok and composer is A R Qureshi. Five songs from this movie are posted making this the sixth song. The movie starred Karan Dewan and Munnawar Sultana. This song is supposedly picturized on Karan Dewan, but there is no way to be certain in the absence of video.

Right u are..only Radio Ceylon plays this song…rich in meaning carried on with equal pace and tune. Matured composition… Why Naushad ji in the photograph ? Is it for some other reason .?
