on:Today (25 july 2013) is the birth anniversary of Sudhir Phadke (25 july 1919- 29 july 2002). While searching for a Sudhir Phadke song to discuss on this occasion, I stumbled upon the movie called “Apradhi” (1949). I recall this movie as a delightful movie because I have seen portions of it while discussing a song from this movie(Apraadhi) in the past.
This delightful movie was a Prabhat Film Company production. It was directed by Yashwant Pethkar. The movie had Ram Singh, Madhubala, Pran etc in it. This movie was one of the earliest movies of Madhubala as a leading lady. The extremely young and not yet reaching her full bloom, she is lovely to look at in “Apradhi” (1949). I have discussed one song from this movie in the past where she plays a radio artist who sings that song on radio. While going towards the radio station, she meets the hero (Ram Singh) who is a fan of her and has come to meet her. He asks for her, and whom does he ask ? Madhubala herself. And Madhubala misleads him.
A few more interaction later, Madhubala falls in love his him. And here is the song where she expresses the fact that she is in love. What a delightful song ! It is sung by Sitara Kanpuri. Her young voice (possibly influenced by the singing style of Noorjahaan) suits a young Madhubala nicely. And the expresions that Madhubala exudes throughout the picturisation are quite natural. Going by her performance in this picturisation, she must have acted quite superbly in this movie and must have won quite a few hearts in those days.
Amar Verma is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sudhir Phadke.
Here is this delightful song from “Apraadhi” (1949).

Lyrics
jaan pehchaan na
saaheb salaam na
dil mera leke chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
ho o
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
jaan pehchaan na
saaheb salaam na
dil mera leke chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
ho o
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
na to main naam jaanoon
gaaon na thhikana jaanoon
gaaon na thhikaana
raste mein aaj mila koi anjaana
mila koi anjaana
ek nazar mein jaise koi
haay jaadoo karke chala gaya
haay jaadoo karke chala gaya
ho o
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
jaan pehchaan na
saaheb salaam na
dil mera leke chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
ho o
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
badi badi aankhen uski
meethhi meethhi baaten
ho meethhi meethhi baaten
roz nahin kabhi kabhi
hongi mulaaqaaten
haan hongi mulaaqaaten
aas bandhaa ke
?? bana ke
yaad apni deke chala gaya
yaad apni deke chala gaya
ho o
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
dil mera leke chala gaya
chala gaya
jaan pehchan na
saaheb salaam na
dil mera leke chala gaya

SP voice was like Talat and Jagjit with lot of kampan and souz. Very good singing Marathi bhajans and abhangs. His son is chip of the old block carrying on the good old tradition.
