“Taxi Driver” (1973) was produced and directed by Mohammad Hussain. The movie had Ashok Kumar,Nirupa Roy, Helen, Vishal Anand aka Bhisham Kohli(Chalte Chalte fame), Anupama, Habib, Asit Sen, Munshi Munaqqa, Nazir Kashmiri, Uma Dutt, Ratna Mala, Janki Dass, Tuntun, Paro, Upendra Trivedi, Mohan Choti, Shabnam, Bhagwan dada, Sham Kumar,Dada Curtey, Prabha Desai, Jerry, Sabir, Gul Hamid, Maqbul, Dog Prince, Faryal, Jayashree.T, Jagdeep, Randhir etc in it.
Two songs from this movie have ben discussed in the past. Here is the third song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Helen. No, it is not a cabarat song, rather it is a mujra song. Yes, Helen has worked in several mujra songs in her career and she made for a rather cheerful mujra dancer in these songs.
The picturisation shows Ashok Kumar as her privileged customer the way some banks these days have their privileged customers. 🙂
Farooque Kaiser is the lyricist. Music is composed by O P Nayyar.
The audio as well as the video of the song miss one stanza each. While the video only has the first and second stanza, the audio only has the first and third stanza. That way one needs to watch the video and also listen to the audio version in order to savour all the stanzas of the song.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
pyaar badnaam meraa
naam bhi harjaayee hai
jurm gairon ne kiyaa
aa aa
maine sazaa paayee hai
jod ke haath main
kehti hoon
bharosaa keeje
aapke pyaar mein
marne ki kasam khayee hai ae
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
bin bulaaye aate hain
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
bin bulaaye aate hain
yahaan pe phool nahin
dil bichhaaye jaate hain
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
talaash karte ho
kiss ko janaab
duniyaa mein
nahin milegaa
hamaaraa jawaab
duniyaa mein
hoyye
uthhaa ke jaam pattak do
ye hukm hai dilbar
uthhaa ke jaam pattak do
ye hukm hai dilbar
piye na aaj se koi
sharaab duniyaa mein ae
yahaan to hosh nazar
se udaaye jaate hain
yahaan to hosh nazar
se udaaye jaate hain
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
bin bulaaye aate hain
yahaan pe phool nahin
dil bichhaaye jaathe hain
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
zaraa si jaan meri
usspe gham qayaamat ka aa
nahin hai aapko
andaazaa meri haalat ka
zaraa si jaan meri
usspe gham qayaamat ka
nahin hai aap ko
andaazaa meri haalat ka
kasam khudaa ki
fasaanaa nahin haqeeqat hai
kasam khudaa ki
fasaanaa nahin haqeeqat hai
kadam kadam pe
ujalaa hai meri ulfat kaa
yahaan charaag nahin
dil jalaaye jaate hain
yahaan charaag nahin
dil jalaaye jaate hain
(included only in audio clip)
zamaane bhar mein
nahin koi meharbaan apnaa
na ye jahaan hai apnaa
na woh jahaan apnaa
hoyye
hamaare pyaar pe
ilzaam to lagaate ho
hamaare pyaar pe
ilzaam to lagaate ho
kabhi… liyaa hai sanam tumne
imtihaan apnaa
ye kyaa sitam hai ke hum
aazmaaye jaate hain
ye kyaa sitam hai ke hum
aazmaaye jaate hain
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
bin bulaaye aate hain….
yahaan pe phool nahin
dil bichhaaye jaate hain…
jinhein ho pyaar sanam
