So now our blog is 9788 songs old. And I am increasingly beginning to feel like Sachin Tendulkar. What do his stats say? It says that he has scored 100 hundreds in international cricket both One Days and test matches put together. Now when we (my daughter and me) started sending contributions to the blog our aim was to send 100 contributions between the two of us. Then she slowed down because of various reasons (academic commitments being the main reason.) but I was having some free time and whenever the writing bug bit me I would send one across to Atul. Next came those dates when it was the birthday or death anniversary of any of my favorites or birthday of any important person for the blog itself (read Arunkumarji, Atul and the blog itself). So there were days when I used to send mails to Atul daily and sometimes I am absent from the blog for weeks. But after I got the mail from Sudhirji I have taken it upon myself to be more active on the blog and I have now reached 90 contributions on the blog (33 as lyrics contributor.) So this is what I said about “feeling like Tendulkar”.

Okay coming to the song I would like to talk of. It is a very short song (hardly 2.50 minutes). A very famous song of its times. It is written by Anand Bakshi. Music is by RDB. Singers are Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar. The stars in the song are Jaya Bhaduri and Randhir Kapoor with Paintal and party supporting the stars. The situation is typical of the 70s and beginning 80s when lovers tried their level best to hide their feelings from family and friends. But some how friend always managed to smell the setup. And then they used to play messengers and agents for the lovers. How sweet and cute the whole thing was. So here is this happy and lovely song from Jawaani Diwaani.

Song-Agar saaz chheda taraane banenge (Jawaani Deewaani)(1972) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-R D Burman

Lyrics

agar saaz chheda taraane banenge
agar saaz chheda taraane banenge
taraane banenge
taraane banenge
taraane baney toh
taraane baney toh fasaane banenge

fasaane baney toh sunegi yeh mehfil
sunegi yeh mehfil badee hogee mushqil
nigaahon ke ham tum nishaane banenge
ke ruswaayeeyon ke
ke ruswayeeyon ke bahaane banenge
agar saaz chheda taraane banenge

bahaanon se phir toh mulaaqaat hogi
yoon hee din katega basar raat hogee
naye dost ek din puraane banenge
mohabbat mein do dil
mohabbat mein do dil deevaane banenge
agar saaz chheda taraane banenge

deevaanon pe hansta hai saara zamaana
zamaana mohabbat kaa dushman puraana
deevaane naheen ham sayaane banenge
sayaane naheen ham

sayaane naheen ham deevaane banenge
agar saaz chheda taraane banenge
taraane banenge
taraane banenge
taraane baney toh

taraane baney toh fasaane banenge
agar saaz chheda taraane banenge
