“Taara” (1949) was directed by RD Parineeja for a production house that went by the grandiloquent name of New Bombay Theatres production. The main cast of actors includes Shyama, Jawahar Kaul, Kuldip, Majnu, Nayantara, Chand Burque etc in it.

Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from the movie to appear in the blog. All online sources describe this song as a duet by Premlata and Satish Batra. I listened to this song several times but I failed to detect more that a solo female voice in the song and that voice may and may not be Premlata’s. If all online sources mention this song as a duet then it is a commentary on the fact that they all copy and paste without bothering to verify facts for themselves.

Aziz Kashmiri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vinod.

Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable raeders to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

PS-Now (as on 31 august 2017), Mr Sadanand Kamath, after some meticulous detective work has established that this song is from “Rashid Dulhan” (year unknown) and not from “Taara”(1949). This solo female voice is that of Sitarabai Kanpuri. Umar Ansari is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad.

Atul ji,

The song in the video clip is NOT from ‘Taara’ (1949) but from the film ‘Rashid Dulhan (1948, Unreleased). The singer is Sitarabai Kanpuri. Ghulam Mohammed set the tune on the lyrics of Umar Ansari.

The reason for mismatch is due to the fact that both the songs have the same refrains – badla nazar aata hai zamaane kaa zamaana’ However, thereafter, the lyrics of both the songs are different.

Since the correct song with the same refrain from ‘Taara’ (1949) was not available on YT, I have uploaded the video of the song on YT.

1.The video clip of the song from ‘Rashid Dulhan (1948, Unreleased):

2. The video clip of the song from ‘Taara’ (1949):

One can note the respective music director’s seals on both these songs.

I like both these songs.

Thanks for the information. So it confirms my view that people cut and paste and circulate incorrect information without confirming the veracity of facts.
