Genius of Jaidev – 16
================

Gaman (1979) was produced and directed by Muzaffar Ali and had star cast consisting Farooq Shaikh, Jalal Agha, Nana Patekar, Smita Patil, Gita Siddharth, Satish Shah etc., with lyrics by Shahryar and music by Jaidev. In his unique style Jaidev used new voices, not usually used by other MDs. Chhaya Ganguli got her first break as a film playback singer with her award winning song ‘Aap Ki Yaad Aati Rahi Raat Bhar’ in this film ‘Gaman’. Other voices used in the film are Classical Singer Hiradevi Mishra, Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar etc.

This one is the second song by Smt Hiradevi Mishra, in my Jaidev Series and it is a typical Muslim wedding song. The word ‘nausha’ may be equivalent to ‘baraat’ (wedding procession). Some knowledgeable ‘Atulite’ may shed light on it and oblige. The song, in understandable simple lyrics, is in the praise of the bridegroom, and everything connected with him. At least for that auspicious day he is described as a real ‘Ameer’. (a rich person)

Song-Bade Dhoom Gajar Se Aayo Re (Gaman)(1979) Singer-Hiradevi Mishra, Lyrics-Shahryar, MD-Jaidev

Lyrics

bade dhoom gajar se aayo re
nausha ameeron ka
bade dhoom gajar se aayo re
nausha ameeron ka
bade dhoom gajar se aayo re
nausha ameeron ka

sehra jo tera laakh ka,
sehra jo tera laakh ka,
kalgi hazaaron ki

baandho baandho dulhhera nausha re
teri chaal ameeron ki
baandho baandho dulhhera nausha re
teri chaal ameeron ki
bade dhoom gajar se aayo re
nausha ameeron ka

jaama jo tera laakh ka,
jaama jo tera laakh ka,
joda hazaaron ka
joda hazaaron ka
joda hazaaron ka

pehno pehno dulhhera nausha re
teri chaal ameeron ki
pehno pehno dulhhera nausha re
teri chaal ameeron ki
bade dhoom gajar se aayo re
nausha ameeron ka

You are welcome Upadhyay ji.
This is a typical traditional wedding song(not confined to Muslims only). When Baraat used to reach Bride’s place,Bride side would shower such songs in the praise of Bridegroom and as you said every thing connected with him,his near relatives his high status in the society and what not(all pseudo).Such beautiful traditions have now become out of date and are not to be seen any more.
Thanks for this upload which took me back to the bygone era.

Nausha=Dulha was known to me. when I tried to search for the meaning online, I was shocked to realise that even Urdu dictionery available online had no clue. So it shows that the online information is often below the acceptable standard.
