Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Ae zindagi huyi kahaan bhool

Posted on: January 17, 2015

This article is written by Aparna H M, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a contributor to this blog. This article is meant to be posted in atulsongaday.me. If this article appears in sites like lyricstrans.com and ibollywoodsongs.com etc then it is piracy of the copyright content of atulsongaday.me and is a punishable offence under the existing laws.

This song is from a movie called “Namumkin” from the year 1988. It is one of the lesser known movies directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. His other movies are considered masterpieces but not this one it seems.

The movie stars Raj Babbar, Vinod Mehra, Zeenat Aman, Sanjeev Kumar (guest appearance), Om Shivpuri, Shreeram Lagoo etc. According to a user comment on the imdb web site, the movie starts on an intriguing premise. It starts with Shreeram Lagoo committing suicide after learning that his newly-wed wife (Zeenat Aman) is actually his daughter. In the meanwhile, Vinod Mehra and Raj Babbar are searching for Vinod Mehra’s girlfriend who is Zeenat Aman. These two happen to meet Sanjeev Kumar who tells them the story of three friends, Shreeram Lagoo, Om Shivpuri and himself. This story is somehow connected to the disappearance of Zeenat Aman. Interesting? Does the story told so far sound fascinating? The movie is available on the ubiquitous youtube for those who are interested. But let me warn, the user comment also mentions that the story is interesting only on paper. So please don’t blame if you waste time watching it 🙂

With this song, the movie makes its debut on the blog. The song can be classified as a Zindagi song. It is a background song. The picturization shows two friends with one friend taking care of the other who appears to be tired / sick. I am unable to indentify the actors, help please.

All of us at some point or the other would have lamented that life has treated us very unfairly. The concerned people in the movie also seem to be in this mood while the song plays. The lyrics by Anjaan is simple and sensitive. Yet it manages to move you deeply. It might be because of the way in which KK has sung it. All his melancholic songs touch the deepest corners of your heart, isn’t it? I feel that there is no nobody who can match him in this aspect. And the other reason, I feel, is the tender music composed by RD Burman.

Before I forget, the same song is sung by Anuradha Paudwal also. This makes it a multiple version song. Somehow, this version does not seem to tug at your heartstrings according to me.

Now, plug in the earphones, turn on the music and feel the magic of words, the music and the voice.

Song-Ae zindagi hui kahaan bhool (Naamumkin)(1988) Singer-Kishore Kumar/ Anuradha Paudwal, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-R D Burman

Lyrics

ae zindagi
hui kahaan bhool
jiski humen mili yeh sazaa aa
ae zindagi
hui kahaan bhool
jiski humen mili yeh sazaa aa
kahaan se kahaan
laayi tu humen
humse hai kyun itni khafa
aye zindagi

kahaan gaye din woh suhaane
kahaan khoya pyaar humaara
kahaan udi kya chingaari ee
jal gaya woh sukh saara
ho o
apna kahin koi nahin
(dil ne yahaan sab haara) – line appears in the female version only
(laake kahaan humen maara) – line appears in the male version only
ae zindagi hui kahaan bhool
jiski humen mili yeh sazaa aa
ae zindagi

beete jo dil pe humaare
jaake kahaan kisko sunaayen
chhalke jo aankhon se dil ke ae
aansoo yeh kisko dikhaayen
ho o
kaun sune ae dil ka yeh gham
dushman hai jag saara
ae zindagi
hui kahaan bhool
jiski humen mili yeh sazaa
ae zindagi

jaayen to hum kahaan jaayen
soojhe naa koi kinaara
bhar gaya jee yahaan jee ke ae
chhod de peecha humaara
ho o
teri kasam
duniya mein hum
aayenge na aa dobaarah
aye zindagi
hui kahaan bhool
jiski humen
mili yeh sazaa aa
kahaan se kahaan laayee tu humen
humse hai kyun itni khafa aa
aye zindagi ee ee
hui kahaan bhool
