“Toofaan Aur Diya”(1956) was directed by Prabhat Kumar for Rajkamal Kala Mandir. The movie had Satish Vyas, Nanda, Rajendra Kumar, K. Date, Ulhas, Vatsala, Ishwarlal, Shanta Kumari etc in it.

I would have liked to give the details of this movie as provided by our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, but he states that he did not watch this movie. He was forewarned by his wellwishers that it was a tearjerker where a brother (Satish Vyas) and sister (Nanda) are seen facing all the possible hardships that are possible for them to face. So he refused to go anywhere near the movie halls screening this movie. Seeing that even I cannot stand tear jerkers, we are unable to bring the details of this movie to our readers.

Instead, we bring all the songs of this movie for the listening pleasure of our readers. Eight songs from this movie have already been discussed. Here is the ninth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Shamshad Begam and chorus. The song is picturised on a lady (whom I am unable to identify) and others. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vasant Desai.

I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the lady lip syncing in Shamshad Begam. I have not been able to decipher a word or two towards the end of the song. I request our readers with keener ears to tell us what this word can be.

With this lively song, “Toofaan Aur Diya”(1956) joins the list of moviews that have all their songs covered in the blog.

This nice racy tune was echoed in a song in Satta Bazaar (1959), “Zara thehro ji Abdul Gaffar”

Pratapji,
Perfect. Good observation. I ran both the songs together.
That way there are many similarities between 2 songs. Rather too many to recount her. As there are 7 basic surs they are bound match same as 2 friends can meet in any part of the world as they say world is a small place!!!
