“Anuraag”(1972) was produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Vinod Mehra, Mausami Chatterji, Madan Puri, Nazeer Hussain, Satyen Kappu, Asit Sen etc in it. Nutan and Rajesh Khanna had made special appearances in this movie.

Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. There are five songs in the movie according to HFGK.

Here is the final song from “Anuraag”(1972) to appear in the blog. It can be seen that the song appears in the movie thrice. Part I and II (that appear to be the same song are happy and semi happy versions of the song with same lyrics, whereas part III of the song is the sad version of the song.

All the versions are sung by Lata and lip synced by Nutan. In the picturisation she is singing this song to her son (played by Master Satyajeet) as a “paheli” while Ashok Kumar looks on. The songs also have child’s voice where the child responds to the “paheli” by coming up with the correct answer. In part I, Ashok Kumar’s voice is also audible.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

I feel that this song should be considered as a multiple part song with two parts. That being the case, the movie has six songs in it (and not five) and all the songs of the movie have now been covered in the blog. In other words, “Anuraag”(1972) now joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Part I (Happy version)
——————————-
hmm
hmm hmm hmm
meraa raajaa betaa boojhe
ek paheli
pyaari pyaari ankhiyon ki kaun saheli
nindiyaa
haan
meraa raajaa betaa boojhe ek paheli
soye jag
jaage saari raat akeli
kya kya kya
maa
oh
shaabaash

ban thhan ke aaye
nindiyaa lagaaye
chaand ki maathe pe bindiyaa lagaaye
ban thhan ke aaye
nindiyaa lagaaye
chaand ki maathe pe bindiyaa lagaaye
mukhde pe chamke
chandra kiran
meraa raajaa beta boojhe
ek paheli
kaun wo dulhan naar naveli
kya re
bolo kya
raat
oh

khoya andhere mein melaa jahaan ka
nain jharokhon se sapnon ne jhaanka
khoya andhere mein melaa jahaan ka
nain jharokhon se sapnon ne jhaanka
dheere dheere chale ri paagal pavan
mera raaja beta boojhe ek paheli
champa ke baalon mein mehke chameli
gajraa
hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmh hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmmm
hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

———————————
Part III (Sad version)
———————————
meraa raajaa betaa boojhe
ek paheli
soye jag jaage saari raat akeli
maa
panchhi musaafir
meet bidesi
laut ke ghar aaye sab pardesi
aise mein chhede bansi kishan
meraa raajaa betaa boojhe
ek paheli
jamuna ke tat naache ik albeli
bol beta
bol
raadha
luk chhup jaaye
aasha niraasha
aankh michauli
din raat tamaasha
ik pal roye
ik pal gaaye man
meraa raajaa betaa boojhe
ek paheli
aur wo bairan khele ye khele

Good Lullaby. I am sure some time or other mothers are employing it to lull their children to sleep.
