Genius of Jaidev – 30
————————-
After ‘yippiying’ the songs of 1957 ‘Anjali’ I start my journey forward, to complete Jaidev’s songs uncovered on this Blog. Film ‘Raat ke Rahi’ had two MDs. Bipin and Jaidev. Only two songs were composed by Jaidev and both were covered in this blog. Moving further, we come across three grate movies by Jaidev, viz ‘Hum Dono’, ‘Kinare Kinare’ and ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’. All these three films were listed in the list of ‘All Songs Covered’. So I come to 1967 film ‘Hamare Gham Se Mat Khelo’.
Produced by ‘Himachal Pictures, Mumbai and Directed by Kunwar Shankar Sinh Tomar, 1967 film ‘Hamare Gham Se Mat Khelo’ had the star-cast of Tomar himself with Bharti, Nazir Hussain, Mukri, Maruti, Madan Puri, Bela Bose, Sajjan, Murad, Niranjan Sharma, Amarnath, Tarun Bose etc. There were two lyricists according to HFGK and the music was set by Jaidev.
Out of the listed 6 songs, there were one solo each by by Talat Mahmood, Geeta Dutt and Asha Bhosley. The remaining three songs are ‘untouchable’ as far as I am concerned, since they were by M Kapoor including a duet with Krishna Kalle. Two songs are already covered in this Blog, so now I have to cover ONLY two songs of Geeta and Asha from the film. After this solo by Geeta, next in line is Asha’s song.
Expert statisticians will tell us how many songs Geeta sang for Jaidev. Non-statistician like me may state that this is her ONLY song with Jaidevji. (Correct me if I am wrong.)
Song–Yeh khaamoshi kyun ye madhoshi kyun (Hamaare Gham Se Mat Khelo) (1967) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics- Nyay Sharma, MD– Jaidev
Lyrics
laa laa
laalaalaa laa la laaaa
lalalaaa
lalala laalalaa
ye khaamoshi kyun
yeh madhoshi kyun
yeh khaamoshi kyun

abhi to raat baaqi hai
abhi se berukhi kaisee
abhi to baat baaqi hai

nigaahon ko kam se kam
nazaare choomne do
nigaahon ko kam se kam
nazaare cooomne do
iraadon ko kam se kam zara to jhoomne do
abhi to baazi lagni hai
abhi to maat baaqi hai
abhi se berukhi kaisee
abhi to baat baaqi hai
yeh khamoshi kyun
yeh madhoshi kyun
yeh khamoshi kyun
yeh madhoshi kyun
musaafir ab chalaa chal
nazar tujh par jamee hai
musaafir ab chalaa chal,
nazar tujh par jamee hai
barasne ko hain baadal
hawaaon mein namee hai
lahoo se tarbatar dil mein
gham e jazbaat baaki hai
abhi se berukhi kaisee
bhi to baat baaki hai
yeh khaamoshi kyun
yeh madhoshi kyun
yeh khaamoshi kyun
yeh madhoshi kyun
yeh khaamoshi kyun
abhi to shamma naachegi
abhi to raat baaqi hai
abhi se berukhi kaisee
abhi to baat baaqi hai
yeh khqamoshi kyun
yeh madhoshi kyun
yeh khqamoshi kyun

Bharat ji,
You are right. Jaidev and Geeta were together only for this song in Hindi films.
However,Jaidev had used Geeta Dutt in 3 duets, when he gave music to Nepali film MAITI GHAR-66, according to her site.
