“Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raja” (1961) was a Rahul Theatres Production. It was prooduced and directed by H S Rawail. The movie had Dev Anand, Waheeda Rehman, Jeevan, Sunder, Hira Lal, Randhir, Jagdish Raj, Rajindar Nath, Sahira, Sheela Kashmiri, Manorama, Indira Bansal, Gautam Mukerjee, Babu Rao Pehlwan, Soda Water, Prabhu Arora, Rirkoo, Jasbir Singh, Ravi Kant, Sadhu Singh, Raj Kumar, Ghosh, Guddu, Satish etc in it.

The movie had nine songs in it. As many as seven songs from the movie have been discussed in the past.

It turns out that the eighth and ninth song of the movie are multiple version songs, viz songs with similar lyrics, but two different songs nevertheless. Such songs are discussed in this blog in one writeup. In other words, this article coveres two songs in one go.

One version is sung by Subir Sen and chorus, while the other version is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The Subir Sen version is picturised as a background song. Asha Bhonsle version song is picturised as a bhajan song. I am unable to identify the actress lipsyncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

With this, all the nine songs from this movie have now been covered. With this, “Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raaja”(1961) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Part I (Subir Sen solo)

Part II (Asha Bhonsle solo)

Congratulations Atul ji on covering all songs of ‘Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raja – 1961 and its joining to the ‘list of movies- all songs covered’ 🙂

(I am back to ‘chha.ga’ (CG) again 🙂

I think the lady, lip synching Asha’s version is Sahira, sister of actress Chitra.

?? – I hear “Sang sanati paar utar gaye,
chod ke bojha bhaari”.

‘Sang-sanati’ is the same as ‘sangi-saathi’.

Thanks for the corrections.

Sorry to correct, Pratap ji,
It is ‘sang sangati’ ( संग संगाती). Meaning the accompanying people or co-travellers.
Atul ji may kindly take note.
Thanks & regards,
Avadh Lal

Ever since I had seen this movie when it was released, this bhajan has been one of my favourite devotional songs.
One reason could have been that I had liked Subir Sen’s “Main rangeela pyar ka rahi…” in ‘Sasural’ very much.
I wonder why SJ who gave him these two such good songs to render, did not use him much later in their films?

Avadhlalji,
This is also my fav bhajan. Subir has sung with dollops of ethos and pathos.
Surprisingly all Bangla singers sound the same maybe all of them have grown on a steady diet of rice, fish and charminar cigs!!!
BTW the song you refer to is from Chhoti Behen. Thanks

Avadhlalji,
In Aas ka Panchhi-61 SJ only gave him two songs : Dil mera ek aas ka panchhi (solo) and Dhire chalav jara (duet). The very famous Manzil wahi hai pyaar ki from Kathputli-57 was also by SJ but that was earlier. May be more also.
Just a little for info.
