Visiting HFGK (Vol-V -1971-1980) that I have, glancing through its pages, and reading and concentrating on few, then searching the songs’ links, noting lyrics, and mailing it to our beloved Atul ji and Sudhir ji is mostly my daily routine whenever I am at my base station (now Nagpur).

“Kahin Aur Chal”(1968) was one movie which few people have seen because this movie was withdrawn after one show in one movie hall by its maker. That is how it was Tolaram Jalani, the maker of this movie, who was not interested in releasing the movie and was more interested in balancing his books for income tax purposes by showing this movie as a loss making venture for him.

Missing Films of 1960s – 8
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
I am really incensed. Generally that does not happen easily, but today it has. Going thru the list of un-represented films from 1960s, the next target film for me was ‘Hawa Mahal’. I already looked for the 78 rpm records of this film, and have drawn a blank. From more than one source, I was informed that no records were manufactured for this film. Disappointing as this information was in itself, I was concerned, but not too much. Because I knew that I have this film with me on disk. So when the time came to prepare a post for the film ‘Hawa Mahal’, I took out video file of the film, with the intent of listening to the songs and to prepare a upload version of one of them.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
If November was the month of many Miss Indias-turned- actresses ‘ birthdates then December will be proud to call itself the month of actors who are/were superstars. The list has Dharamendra, Shatrughan SInha, Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan & Rajesh Khanna. (Disclaimer to all those who want to correct this list: I have chosen to mention only those actors who are/were superstars. The anniversary list page on our blog mentions around 24 male birthdays.) Dharamendra turned 80 a few days back; Shatrughan Sinha turned 70; Dilip Saab turned 93 yesterday; Raj Kapoor would have been 91 in 15 days from now; Govinda will turn 52; Anil Kapoor 59; Salman Khan 50 and Rajesh Khanna would have been 73. Phew! Thats a lot of statistics! Let me wish those whose birthdates I missed a very Belated Happy Birthday. {Isn’t that what we do when we miss some friend’s birthday; wish belatedly ;-)}

SHANKAR- JAIKISHEN IN THE 50s…Song No. 8
———————————————-
Should an actor working as a Hero be necessarily good looking ? In India, yes ! If one sees the list of heroes from 1931 till recent time, one will find that on 99% of the occasions, the Heroes were handsome, good looking,tall and with good physique- irrespective of whether they could act or not. Not that there were no heroes who were ordinary looking, but by and large they were exceptions or they were the producers or directors themselves ( like Kishore Sahu ) or their sons etc. The Indian audience had a mind set that a film Hero must be good looking and the Heroine must be beautiful-preferably.
