Genius of Jaidev – 40

Searching on internet YouTube, I came across this Rafi’s 1969 ‘Sapna’ song for my ‘Genius of Jaidev’ series. According to HFGK this Rafi’s song is also sung by Krishna Kalle with some minor variations in lyrics for the same film. What can be better, as suggested by seniors of ASAD, than presenting two songs in one posting today, to remember Jaidevji, who took permanent ‘nirvaan’ on this day, the 6th January, 28 years ago!
Having not seen the film, but from the wordings by VN Mangal, it seems obvious that the hero is totally awestruck by the beauty and ‘adaayen’ of the heroine, and he is compelled to come out with this pleading song.
And after this double treat, only one song by honey-dipped voice of Lakshmi Shankar remains to be posted, so that it will put ‘Sapana’ in the ‘Yeepee’ list.
[Note: Major part of the lyrics of the two versions are same. There are some minor differences. a. two lines are different in the first antaraa, and b. the rendition of the mukhdaa lines also varies. Interesting to listen to both versions and note the variations. 🙂 ]

Many congratulations on reaching the century mark. Thanks for the many wonderful songs and Raagmaalas that you have entertained us with, on way to reaching this milestone.
