Today (24 march 2016) is Holi, the Indian festival of colours. This happens to be the eighth Holi festival for this blog.

It goes without saying that being around for so many years and celebrating this (as well as other festivals) together is in itself a cause for celebration.

We have covered lots and lots of Holi festival songs in the blog during all these occasions. When I look at the count, I notice that as many as 49 Holi festival songs have been covered in the blog. So this song under discussion is the 50th Holi festival song in the blog. So one can say that we have been discussing Holi festival songs in the blog at the rate of more than six songs per Holi festival and we have covered all well known and even some not well known songs for the occasion.

The song under discussion is from “Aabroo”(1968). This movie was produced by B L Rawal and directed by C L Rawal under the banner of Rawal Films. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Vimi, Rehman, Shashikala, Leela Naidu, Jeevan, Mukri, Sunder, Tun Tun, Lalita Pawar, Nirupa Roy, Niranjan Sharma, Praveen Paul, Ravi Kant, Uma Khosla, Nita etc in it.

The movie had seven songs in it. Six songs from this movie have already been covered in the blog and so only one song was left to be covered. Since this remaining song is a Holi song so I was waiting for this Holi festival to arrive so that I could post this seventh and final song from “Aabroo”(1968).

The song is sung by Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The song is picturised on Deepak Kumar, Vimi and others.

G L Rawal is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sonik Omi.

With this song, “Aabroo”(1968) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

I take this opportunity to wish all our regulars, visitors, contributors and other well wishers a happy and safe Holi.

Dear Atul ji

Wah wah, 50 Holi songs – that is another milestone of sorts.

I wonder if folks are discovering and using the power of categories that we have so painstakingly created on this blog. These categories are an immense help in locating songs of very specific types. Yes, including Holi songs :).
