Lata’s Songs NOT YET covered on our Blog – 3
———————————————–
After my last Lata’s song NOT YET COVERED in our Blog, I came to a song, ‘Ab Kaun Sunega Mere Man Ki Baat’ from the 1947 film ‘Aap Ki Sewa Mein’. In spite of its listing in ‘Lata Samagra, and Gandhar’ as Lata song, I had my doubt about the singer, listening to the Mp3 Audio that I had since long time. Searching for the video on you tube I found two postings and both had mentioned the singer as Mohantara Ajinkya (Talpade).

My mantra being ‘Whenever in doubt, consult experts’, I SOSed it to to the experts. Prompt came the reply from Harminderbhai, that the HFGK had wrongly mentioned it as Lata’s, as later on he found that HMV Disc No.26959 carried correct name of the singer viz. Mohantara Talpade. Our Sadanandbhai and Manekbhai Premchand supported my suspicion and corrected the name of the singer as Mohantara Talpade. (For character ‘Neela’, played by Shanta in the film, playback seems to have been given by Mohantara Talpade, which includes the captioned song.)

Going further in the ‘Samagra’ listing I came across a 1948 film ‘Andhon Ka Sahara’ song ‘Main To Naachun Chhamachham’, by Miss Lata. I heard my MP3 audio repeatedly but could not classify the song as Lata’s. The voice sounded more like a non-baby voice much similar to Johara. Searching through the recently found Blog of 12K famed Khalidbhai, this song as well as the film are NOT AT ALL included in his listing.

So, now we come to 1948 film ‘ASHA’ Produced by Jagdish Film Circuit, Banglore and Directed by Meghani. Lyics of L Meghani were set to music by the great MD Khemchand Prakash. According to HFGK, the Star-cast included Shanta Kunwar, Sohan, Samson, Shivraj, Tiwari, Urvashi, Laxman Rao, Sreemati Pal, Master Sharad etc.

Out of five Lata songs from this film, one is already covered in our Blog. This one is the second one. It is written in ‘dehaati’ language, so it is presumed that it is picturised in a village background where the heroine is singing with many of her friends. Since I have not been able to catch few words here and there, I request my friends with sharper ears to help me decipher them.
