Today (27 june 2016) is the birth anniversary of R D Burman (27 june 1939- 4 january 1994). We are discussing R D Burman compositions in the blog today and we have so far discussed as many as six songs composed by him.
There days I aim at discussing a song daily that sees the movie getting YIPPEED in the blog. I was wondering if I would be able to find any such song today. Most unYIPPEED movies of R D Burman had at least two songs remaining in the blog when I checked them in the morning. I thought that a few of the movies had only one song left but it turned out that I was wrong.
Now, having discussed six R D Burman songs in the day already, I finally come across a movie that may well serve as the YIPPEED movie of the day. This movie is “Shaukeen”(1982). It was a Senmit Movie production. It was directed by Basu Chatterji. It had Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt, A K Hangal, Mithun Chakravarty, Rati Agnihotri etc in it.
HFGK covers movies upto 1980 only and so we do not have HFGK to tell us how many songs there are in this movie. I have tried to find the list of songs of this movie. It appears that this movie had six songs in it. As it is, we have discussed five songs from the movie in the past. So, if my information is correct then we have just one song left to be discussed fro the movie.
Here is this sixth and (hopefully) final song from “Shaukeen”(1982). This song is a disco song which was the in thing in Hindi movies those days. Asha Bhonsle sings the song wish gusto. Yogesh, an old time lyricist that he was, comes up with nice lurics, s against meaningless gibbesrish, that were passing for many disco song lyrics those days. And R D Burman, the music director tries to maintain standards while catering to the demands of the market.
The song is picturised as a club song on Rati Agnihotri, with the three lecherous old men, viz Ashok Kumar, A K Hangal and Utpal Dutt dutifuly present in order to be able to ogle her.
With this song, “Shaukeen”(1982) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Ye rang e mehfil behke huye dil(Shaukeen)(1982) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Yogesh, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics
Hey ae ae
hey ae ae ae
hey ae ae
ye rang e mehfil
behke huye dil
naghma hai aur saaz hai
ye rang e mehfil
behke huye dil
naghma hai aur saaz hai
aao keh den
aaj dil mein
jo bhi tere mere raaz hain
aen aen
ye rang e mehfil
behke huye dil
naghma hai aur saaz hai
aaj wo
jalwon ke
rang machal ke chhalka doon
aur ye hangaama
chalta rahe na halka ho
o
hum bhi to dekhen teri adaayen
kya tera andaaz hai
aao keh den
aaj dil mein
jo bhi tere mere raaz hain
hey
ye rang e mehfil
behke huye dil
naghma hai aur saaz hai
chaahiye
kya usko
jisko kisi ka pyaar miley
yaar ki
albeli ee
do baanhon ka haar miley
ho jab se mila hai
ye pyaar teraa
khud par mujhe naaz hai
aao keh den
aaj dil mein
jo bhi tere mere raaz hain
hey
ye rang e mehfil
behke huye dil
naghma hai aur saaz hai
