Today (18 august 2016) is the full moon day (poornima). It is on this day that Indian month of Saawan (Shrawan)comes to an end and the month of Bhaadon (Bhadrapad) begins. The singinficance of this full moon day is that it is celebrated in India as Rakshabandhan day.
I came to realise just now that Rakshabandhan is supposed to be celebrated when it is still the month of Saawan, and is not yet Bhaadon. So today the shubh Muhurta for tying raakhi is from early morning till afternoon before 3 PM. Then the month of Saawan would be over.
I also realised it just now that this blog had started eight years ago on the first day of saawan (on 19 july 2008) on full moon day and the next full moon day (6 august 2008) was the first Rakshabandhan for this blog.
Today (18 august 2016) is the eighth Rakshabandhan festival for this blog. All the well known as well as some not so well known Rakshabnadhan songs from Hindi movies have been covered in the blog.
Today, on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, here is a superb Rakshabandhan song. This song is the creating of some of the biggest names in HFM, viz Lata is the singer, Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and music is composed by Chitragupta.
The lyrics of the song is easily understandable to most movie lovers, and it is a song that music lovers would love to listen to. This song is just as sweet to listen to as the iconic song Bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana(Chhoti Bahan)(1959) which was the first Raakhi festival song to be posted in the blog.
The song under discussion is from “Laagi Naahin Chhote Raam”(1963) which was a Bhojpuri movie. It was directed by Kundan Kumar for Friends movies. The movie had Kumkum, Aseem Kumar, Nazeer Hussain, Tiwari, Indrani Mukherji, Anwar Hussain, Mishra, Ram singh, Leela Mishra, Helen, Mehmood, Hasan Razvi, Bhushan Tiwari, Polson, Ramdev, Mangla, Amal Sen etc in it.
The song is picturised on Indrani Mukherji playing sister of Aseem Kumar.

Atul ji,
With this Purnima,the month of Sawan comes to an end ONLY in North Indian calendars. In south and west the Sawan will end with Amavasya on the 1st of September.
This is because of the different way of calculations based on the regional,agricultural and metorological variations of this vast country.
This matter was discussed in details earlier too on this Blog, about 2-3 years ago, when Sudhir ji had raised this point.

This was the first song was played on the Vividh Bharti today at 7.02 am.
BTW at 7.30 up to 7.45 am there is a Interview with Anil Biswas daily since a week. He plays very selected and precious 4 songs. Go for it.

This Vividh Bharti’s ‘Sangeet Sarita has 26 episodes Of Anil Biswas’s interview. It is repeated from the old archives, being presented by my friend Chhaya Ganguli. You can listen to them daily between 07:30 and 07:45 mornings.

I listened the yesterday’s part. Today I missed it.
I like this program very much and it’s my daily routine at VVB from 06:30 to 09:00 or 7 to 9.
The earlier series by Dagurs was also very Interesting. Every episode if this program is wonderful.
