“Nateeja”(1969) was produced by Jugal Kishore and is directed by Rajesh Nanda. The movie had Vinod Khanna and Bindu in lead roles, supported by KN Singh, Jugal Kishore, Junior Mehmood etc as well.

The movie had six songs in it. Four of these songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the fifth song from “Nateeja”(1969) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Shamshad Begam and Sulakshana Pandit. Though there were two lyricists in the movie, the lyricist of this song is not known. Music is composed by Usha Khanna.

The song is picturised as a synchronised mujra dance song on two female dancers. I am able to identify one of them as Jayshree T. I am unable to identify the other. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the other dancer.

The dance performance is being watched by predominantly male clients, including Vinod Khanna, K N Singh etc. While villain must be present in a mujra/ cabaret dance performance, I have not been able to make out why the hero too is required to be present on such an occasion. 🙂

This song must be one of the last few playback singing opportunities for Shamshad Begam and one of the first few playback singing opportunities for Sulakshana Pandit.

Song-Din mohabbat ke raaten hain shabaab ki (Nateeja)(1969) Singers-Shamshad Begam, Sulakshana Pandit, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics

din mohabbat ke
raaten hain shabaab ki
sabki aankhon mein masti hai sharaab ki
har kadam pe charaagaa charaaga hai
har kadam pe charaagaa charaaga hai
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai ae
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai

saaz bajte hain ghunghroo chhanakte hain
najre milti hain
saaghar chhalakte hai
bekhudi saari mahfil pe chhaayi hai
mahjabeenon ke aanchal dhalakte hain
in hawaaon mein khushbu hai gulaab ki
sabki aankhon mein masti hai sharaab ki
har kadam pe charaagaa charaaga hai
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai

aaj ki raat milne ka waada hai
kuchh na poochho ki kya kya irada hai
unse kahne ki baaten hajaaron hain
waqt kam hai
mohabbat jyaada hai
aisa lagta hai duniya hai ye khwaab ki
hoy
sabki aankhon mein masti hai sharaab ki
har kadam pe charaagaa charaaga hai
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai

bahki bahki nigaahen naa daalo ji
teekhe teekhe ye tevar sambhaalo ji
aisi ghadiyaan nahin roj aane ki
ab to humko gale se lagaa lo ji
humko loota hai nazron ne janaab ki
din mohabbat ki raaten hain shabaab ki
sabki aankhon mein masti hai sharaab ki
har kadam pe charaagaa charaaga hain
har kadam pe charaagaa charaaga hain
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai ae
aaj jashn-e-bahaara hai
