“Shaarda”(1957) was produced and directed by L V Prasad for Prasad Productions. It was a Hindi remake of Tamil original original Tamil film ‘Edhir Paradhathu’ (1955). The movie had Meena Kumari, Raj Kapoor, Raj Mehra, Shyama, Gope, Manorama, Om Prakash, Agha etc.in it.
The movie had nine songs in it. Seven songs from the movie have been covered so far.
Here is the eighth song from “Shaarda”(1957) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by C Ramchandra and Asha Bhonsle. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.
Like most C Ramchandra duets, this song is picturised as a romantic comic side plot song. The song is picturised on Agha and a lady whom I am unable to identify. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.

Nice catchy tune. Somehow it reminded me of a very popular Bangla song of the 60’s, ‘Nijhum Sandhyai’, sung by Hemant Kumar.

Yes, Pratapji, it does remind one of that Bengali song from “Monihar”, although C Ramchandra has added a bit of pace, what with it being a dance tune.
Hemanto also copied from C Ramchandra , witness this song from the 1958 Bengali Movie “Suryotoron” which was based on Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” (which in turn was based on the life of renowned Architect FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT) :
The song is based on C Ramchandra’s immortal creation from the 1952 Movie “Shin Shinaki Booblaboo” (Tum kya jaano tumhari yaad mein hum kitna roye).
As is well known, both the Music Masters were great personal friends too, the common link being Lataji , perhaps.

Thank you for your comments Partha Chandaji. I see that this song”achchha hai mauqa–‘ was made for the 1957 movie, so it pre-dates ‘Monihar’. The inspiration, if any, was taken by Hemant Kumar here as well.
They are all very soulful compositions.
