In our mission of bringing remaining Shankar-Jaikishan movies on the blog, today we are introducing the movie ‘International Crook-1974’.

Today 8th December is also the eighty-fifth birthday of actor-producer Dharmendra (born on 8th December’1935) who acted in this movie. He is lip syncing and performing on this song from the above movie, and we will enjoy this song while we wish him a ‘very very Happy Birthday today and a healthy and peaceful life ahead’.

‘International Crook’ (alias ‘Kaalaa Baazaar’) was directed by Pachhi for his home productions ‘Pachhi, Bombay’. Pachhi was also the producer and writer of this movie.

The movie had Dharmendra, Saira Banu, Feroz Khan and Om Prakash with Hiralal, Rajan Haksar, Sushila, Rathod, Foreign artists Azar, Lily, Ferooze, Shaheen and supported by Sunder, Manorama, Raj Mehra, Jayshree T., Habib, Sulochana Chatterjee and Jagdeep.

Screenplay of this movie was written by R.S. Chaudhury, editing of this movie was done by Shyam Rajput. Dialogues for this movie were written by Aziz Kashmiri who also wrote the lyrics for all the songs of this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 19.07.1974 with ‘restricted viewing (A) certificate’.

Music for ‘International Crook-1974’ was composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

This movie had six songs sung by Asha Bhonsle, Mahendra Kapoor, Kishore Kumar and Sharda as given below

Song
Crook crook crook, International crook …
Mere dil mein tu hi tu hai zaraa aitbaar kar le ae
Pyaar ki mujhpe nazar kyaa daali
Bachnaa chorbazaari se bhai jaagte rehna
Husn-e-Iran o meri jaan
Poochha jo pyaar kya hai, sharmaa ke maar daala

I had never gone through this movies’ songs earlier and it was the first time that I was listening to them. Today’s song is sung by Kishore Kumar and on-screen Dharmendra is performing with Saira Banu also with him in the picturization the song.

I liked the song and it certainly grows upon us if we listen to it again and again. Also, it has been shot at beautiful outdoor picturesque location (foreign locations, I guess 😊). This song has beautiful lyrics written by Aziz Kashmiri and music is composed by Shankar-Jaikishan.

I have not watched this movie so can’t say much about it. However, I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the movie and its other songs please.

Let us now enjoy today’s song and welcome 😊 ‘International Crook-1974’ on the blog ….

(Lyrics noted are as per audio link which has three stanzas while in the video the first stanza seems to be edited or may be there is other link of full song may be).

Dharmendra is no doubt a versatile actor. Though he is more known as ‘ Garam Dharam ‘…his work in
Satyakam / Anupama / Guddi /Anpadh /Devar/Chupke Chupke can’t be ignored. He has worked with most of the heroines of yester years.

With best wishes on his birthday rememberanc !💐
