In this episode, we discuss Lata Mangeshkar songs that she sang in Hindi movies released in 1981.
In 1981, 145 Hindi movies containing 755 songs were released. Lata Mangeshkar got to sing in 46 of these movies and she sang 88 songs in these movies. Lata Mangeshkar worked with 17 music directors and 25 lyricists in these 46 movies released in 1981. Laxmikant Pyarelal continued to be the most prolific music directors with Lata, with 552 songs in HFM with Lata Mangeshkar by the end of 1981. Shankar Jaikishan with 456 songs in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar were in the second position. Kalyanji Anandji with 297 songs and C Ramchandra with 274 songs were the next most prolific. Other top music directors for Lata Mangeshkar were R D Burman (241), Chitragupta (239), R D Burman, Madan Mohan (195), S D Burman (179), Roshan (144), Naushad (140), Hemant Kumar (127), Anil Biswas (120), Husnlal Bhagatram (108), Salil Chaudhary (108) and Vasant Desai (104). Together these fifteen music directors composed 3282 songs out of 4500 songs that Lata Mangeshkar had sung in Hindi movies till end of 1981. The top ten lyricists till end of 1981 for Lata Mangeshkar were Rajinder Krishan (554), Anand Bakshi (542), Majrooh Sultanpuri (378), Shailendra (361), Hasrat Jaipuri (297), Prem Dhawan (201), Bharat Vyas (193), Shakeel Badayuni (189), Sahir Ludhianvi (159) and Indeewar (109). These ten lyricists had penned 2983 songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar till that time.
Lata Mangeshkar collaborated with music directors Amar Utpal, Anu Malik, Manas Mukherjee, Manoj Gyan, Shrikant and Shiv Hari for the first time in movies of 1981. She also worked with Lyricists Dayanand Pandey, Hasan Kamal, Jawed Akhtar, Manoj Kumar, Nida Fazli, and Zafar Gorakhpuri for the first time in movies released this year.

“Aakhiri Mujra”(1981) was produced by Lallan and directed by Hiren Nag for Jagat Movies, Bombay. The movie had Asha Parikh, Vikram, Zarina wahab,Dr.Shreeram Lagoo, Nadira, Ajeet(guest), Kanhaiyalal, Yunus Parvez, Master Raju, Shaukat Kaifee, Muqri, Shail Chaturvedi, Viju Khote, Minu Mehtsab, Suresh Bhagat, Nitin Sethi, Murad, Vikas,C S Dube, Shreeram Shastree, Pardesi,Bhola, Pt.Deenanath, Birbal, Baby Shalu(guest), Prakash Misra, Prem, Chandu, Raj Verma. The movie introduced Master Laddoo and Gauri Khorana. The movie also had guest appearances by Jagdeep,Gayetri and Satyen Bose.
The movie had seven songs in it. One of these songs was a solo song sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
