Hullo Atuldom
21st December 1963 is the date of birth of Shri Govind Arun Ahuja, so that means he steps into the 59th year of his life on 21st December 2021. Govind Arun Ahuja is the son of former actor Arun Kumar Ahuja and singer-actress Nirmala Devi. We all know Govind Arun Ahuja as Govinda, he is the youngest of six children. Many members of his family- niece and nephews- are also into acting as also his daughter Tina.
He saw the Mithun starrer “Disco Dancer” and practiced dancing for hours, made a promotional VHS cassette and circulated it to various production houses in a bid to make in-roads into Bollywood. Anand Singh; who played Amol Palekar’s friend in ‘Gol Maal’ and was the person who mouths the dialogue ‘aao aao mere late lateef’ in the football match scene; was an assistant to Hrishikesh Muherjee; is Govinda’s mama. He is the one who offered him “Tan-Badan” where he was cast opposite Khushboo (who later became a superstar/actor in South Indian films). Around the same year, he also signed up for “Love ’86” and “Ilzaam”. Eventually, “Love ’86” was his first release, followed by “Ilzaam” and then “Tan-Badan”. Of these, “Love ’86” and “Ilzaam” were super successful.
That was the period when the super actors of yesteryears viz.- Raj Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Jeetendra, Dharmendra, Ashok Kumar, Pran, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna etc.- were on their second innings of their career, meaning playing senior characters. Govinda has played second lead and other such characters in movies with these seniors. That was the way his journey in Bollywood started. He has completed 35 years in the entertainment industry. He has been a hero to actresses like Khushboo, Farha, Mandakini, Neelam, Karisma Kapoor, Kimi Katkar, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Meenakshi Seshadri, even Sridevi played his romantic interest in two movies. Any post on Govinda is incomplete without the mention of David Dhawan (who gave him a series of hits with the ‘No.1’ tag), Kadar Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Johnny Lever- constants in all Govinda films of the ’90s.
Kishore Kumar was very much present around the time that Govinda made his debut and today we are having a Kishore Kumar Asha Bhonsle – a hit jodi- duet on another hit Jodi- Govinda and Neelam. It is from the 1988 release “Hatya” which was directed by Kirti Kumar (Govinda’s brother). The songs of the movie were written by Indeevar and tuned by Bappi Lahirri. It had a cast of Anupam Kher, Raj Kiran, Om Shivpuri, Johnny Lever, Babu Anthony (a tall, lanky & good looking actor of south Indian films who hasd a great physique too), Aparajitha etc along with Baby Sujitha who played a deaf and mute child around whom the story revolves. It was a remake of a Malayalam movie that was originally directed by Fazil who also wrote the movie in for Hindi along with Kadar Khan. The deaf and mute boy , who is a witness to the brutal murder of his mother, is found by Govinda (Sagar) who makes an effort to locate his parents. Sagar gets into trouble with the cops who think that he is the culprit of the child’s mother. After a few twists and turns the real culprit is apprehended and Sagar gets to walk into the sunset with the little boy’s maasi (Sapna a.k.a. Neelam).
I have seen the Tamil, Malayalam as well as the Hindi versions, a very engrossing movie IMO.
Happy Birthday Govinda…

Lyrics
aap ko agar zaroorat hai
ho ho
ha ha
dil mera haazir e khidmat hai
take take take take
gar gar gar
aap ko agar zaroorat hai
hmm hmm
haan haan
dil mera haazir e khidmat hai
take take take
take take take
kaho kya cheez mohabbat hai
kamzori ya taaqat hai
jisaka naam mohabbat hai
sabse badi woh taaqat hai
aap ko agar zaroorat hai
haan haan
ho ho
dil mera haazir e khidmat hai
take take take
take take take
take take take
take take take
hum toh aap ke paas hain
phir kyun aap udaas hain
kitne hi hon dil mein gham
muskaane se hote hain kam
hona hai woh hona hai
phir kaahe ka rona hai
ho
kitne hi hon dil mein gham
muskaane se hote hain kam
hona hai woh hona hai
phir kaahe ka rona hai
smile smile smile
hahahaha
smile smile smile
smile smile smile
hahahahaha
smile smile smile
aap ko agar zaroorat hai
haan haan
ho ho
dil mera haazir e khidmat hai
take take take
take take take
aa aa aa aa
la la la
laalaa laa
duniya ke aage jhukna kya
aji pyaar ki raahon mein rukna kya
dheere dheere chalen agar
taai kar paaoge kaise safar
laakhon armaan waqt hai kam
tez karo chaahat ke kadam
dheere dheere chalen agar
tai kar paaoge kaise safar
laakhon armaan waqt hai kam
tez karo chaahat ke kadam
run run run
run run run
run run run
run run run
aap ko agar zaroorat hai
hmm hmm
haan haan
dil mera haazir e khidmat hai
take take take
kaho kya cheez mohabbat hai
kamzori ya taaqat hai
jiska naam mohabbat hai
sabse badi woh taaqat hai
aap ko agar zaroorat hai

dil mera haazir e khidmat hai
