Today’s song is from the movie ‘Bhakt Raaj-1960’. This movie was directed by V.M. Vyas for ‘Shri Nityanand Chitra, Calcutta’. V.M. Vyas also wrote the screenplay of this movie.
The cast of this movie included Sulochana, Shahu Modak, Trilok Kapoor, Lalita Pawar, David, Kuldeep Kaur, Prem Adeeb, Roopmala, Kumkum, Jaymala, Bhagwan, Dara Singh and others.
This movie was based on a story written by Pandit Madhur (as mentioned in the footnote of this movie page in HFGK Vol-III (1951-1960).
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 18.02.1960.
‘Bhakt Raaj-1960’ had eight songs. Seven songs were written by Bharat Vyas and one song was based on traditional lyrics (this is the song that we are going to listen today).

We are all aware of the traditional Meera bhajan. Though HFGK mentions the lyrics as traditional (and hence no lyricist is mentioned for this song) but only the ‘mukhda’ is traditional and lyrics are different.
