Slowly and steadily, and also unnoticeably, we arrive at yet another century milstone for the blog. This article is the 172th century post, or in other words post number 17200.
The previous century was achieved on 14 august 2022 (Blog day number 5140). This century is being achieved on 25th october 2022( Blog day number 5212). In other words, this century has arrived in 72 days, at a glacial pace of 1.4 songs daily.
This is the second century milestone for the blog after I retired from service in June 2022. If I thought that I would be able to devote more time to the blog post retirement, that does not seem to have happened.
There are some reasons that may have prevented me from going at a better rate. One reason is that the sheer volume of content in the blog that we have accumulated requires lots and lots of background work. I am still devoting considerable time to the blog but that is happening in ackground work, and is not getting reflected in the number of posts.
Readers who are following Blog Ten Year Challenge series will notice that we used to post as many as eight songs a day ten years ago. That was the situation when I was a full fledged employee holding a key post. Still I was able to be highly productive as far as the blog was concerned.
I used to wake up before 5 AM those days and would start working on the blog right away. Today also I wake up at the same time, but I am unable to do any blog work right away. My morning is devoted to walking my two dogs one by one between 5 AM and six AM. I did not have to do this ten years ago. My dogs those days freely roamed around on their own and came back on their own. This state of affairs continued till I retired. It is only now I am realising how much time my dogs were saving me during my working days, because I did not have to walk them daily. They did their walking, running and other excecises on their own.
Right now my residence is seeing some construction work, so for the time being I am unable to open my laptop right away because it means waking my wife up. Once the construction work is over, I will be able to keep the computer in some other room and that would allow me valuable early morning hours before my wife even wakes up. That is what I used to do doing my working days, when my computers were located in a room far away from the prying eyes of my wife. 😉 Moreover, even my wife was with me only for a few days in a year as she was herself working in a far off place.
Most articles that get covered in the blog these days are guest posts. Others are mostly Blog Ten Year Challenge posts. The idea now a days is that there should be at least one post daily and taht there should not be a DOT day in the blog. The last DOT day for the blog was on 25 december 2019 (Blog day number 4177). So we now have seen at least one post daily continously for 1035 days. Hopefully this will continue for long. There were days when I was unable to post, like for instance during the last few days of my service. Sudhir Jee has kept the blog flag high on those days by posting at least one article daily.
Personally I have not been able to really “blog” where blog means expressing my views in detail on various topics. There are lots and lots of topics where I would like to express myself in detail. In the past I have written in detail about several topics. Hopefully I will be able to achieve the same form soon enough.
While looking for a century post song, I came across this rare song from a rare movie which is a composition of artists that are hardly known to most music lovers.
The movie is “Zimbo Ki Beti”(1959). “Zimbo Ki Beti”(1959) was produced by S J Rajdev and directed by S Pal for Rajni Chitra, Bombay. This movie had Nazi, Samar Roy, Heera Sawant, Burhan, Jillani, Tuntun, Nimmo, Shashimala, Majnu, Malik, Balwant Sharma, Khursheed, Razak, Govind, Khanna, Parshuram, Gawli, Sandow etc in it.
There were six obscure songs in this obscure movies. One song from “Zimbo Ki Beti”(1959) has been covered so far.
Here is the second song from the movie. It is sung by Minu Purushottam and Khursheed Baawra. Khawar Zamaan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Prem.
Only audio of the song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
I take this opportunity to thank one and all whose encouragement, support and contributions in one way or the other has kept this musical bandwagon rolling on and on for more than 14 years, which is a lot for an online collaboration of music lovers. Hopefully we will see this blog keep adding many more songs and centuries to its tally in the days, months and years to come.
