Today’s song is from the movie ‘Nargis-1993’. This movie seems to be an obscure or un-released movie of its time. I was not aware of this movie or its songs. But I got to listen to today’s song on ‘Vividh Bharati’ around two years back and since then I was longing to share it on the blog. When I listened to this song first I was not aware of the name of the movie it was from. It was only later when I looked for the details of its movie and other songs that I became aware of the name of the movie.
The first and the foremost thing that I got excited about this song was the composition which I liked and its singing by Lata Mangeshkar. I was surprised to have never come across this song during all these years since it was produced.
Secondly the name of this movie is missing from the list of Atul ji’s ‘Yearwise Review of Lata Mangeshkar HF Songs’. I checked the post for this year ‘1993’ again and again and also checked the posts for the years ‘1994’ and ‘1992’ to see if this movie name is there if was released earlier or later. But ‘Hindi Filmography-Vol-1 (1986-2000)’ mentions this movie of the year ‘1993’. (So we need to add this movie to this list also).
“Nargis-1993” was directed by Khalid Mohammad for ‘Filmtech, Bombay. Khalid Mohammad was also the producer of this movie.
This movie had Hema Malini, Naseeruddin Shah, Zeba, Manzoor Ali, Dinesh Hingoo, Neelam, Arun Bakshi, Anant Mahadevan, Sulbha Deshpande, Sudhir Dalvi, Nandita Thakur, Rabia, Kamal Deep, Chandani, Amjad Khan and others.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 26.04.1993.
