(A tribute to lyricist Nida Fazli on his ‘Remembrance Day’)

Today we pay our tributes to lyricist Nida Fazli on his ‘seventh’ ‘Remembrance Anniversary.

He was born on 12^th October’1938 and he passed away on 08^th February’2016.

As a tribute to him today on his ‘Remembrance Day’ I presenting a song penned by him for the movie ‘Naakhuda-1981’.

This movie has six songs and all the six songs were written by Nida Fazli.

We have some beautiful compositions composed by Khayyam Saab to the equally beautiful lyrics by Nida Fazli in this movie.

“Naakhuda-1981” was directed by Dilip Naik for ‘Yashraj Enterprises’. It was produced by Yash Chopra.

It had Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Raj Kiran, Madan Puri, Yunus Parvez, Mac Mohan, Bharat Kapoor, and Javed Khan. They were supported by Sudhir Dalvi, Vikas Anand, Mahaan, Murlidhar, Bandini, Nandini, Umesh, Murari, Chand, Raj Verma, Chandu, Pardesi, Madhu Malhotra, Amarnath, Rajesh, Rauf Khan and others.

This movie introduced Swaroop Sampat. Asha Sachdev had a guest appearance in this movie.

This film was written by Mushtaq Jalili. Editing of this movie was done by B. Mangeshkar.
(Ranjan Suryawanshi was the chief assistant editor and Deepak Sareen was the chief assistant director for this movie).

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 17.02.1981.

As mentioned above this movie has six songs written by Nida Fazli and music for five songs was composed by Khayyam .
One song was composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and this song had the voices of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mujahad Ali and chorus.
The songs had voices of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mahendra Kapoor, Nitin Mukesh, Jagjit Kaur, Pamela Chopra, and S.K. Mahaan.

Today’s song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Sudhir Dalvi is seen lip-syncing this song on screen.

The picturisation of the song is shown in the background of the movie titles where we can see Sudhir Dalvi (as a ‘Fakir’) and other devotees (?) sailing in a boat.

The song relates the ‘captain of the boat/ship’ – ‘Naakhuda’ to God and says that he is the sailor, captain, rescuer, and director like the God in the hour of ‘crises. He is the commander of the ‘fate’ or ‘destiny’ of the travellers in the boat and also he is as great as God and treat all equally with love and shower his love on all irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.
