The song presented in this post is from the movie “Magadhraj-1946’.
It was directed by R.S. Chaudhary for ‘Kamal Pictures’. It had Mumtaz Shanti, Chandra Mohan, Baburao Pendharkar, Sulochana Chatterjee, Harish, Anita Sharma, Pande, Feroz Dastoor, Munshi Khanjar, Ibrahim and others.
This movie has ten songs which were penned by Pandit Indra. Music for this movie was composed by Bulo C. Rani.
HFGK Vol-II (1941-1950) mentions the name of the singers for six songs out of ten songs. The singers are Mohantara Talpade, Hamida Banu, and Feroz Dastoor. For the remaining four songs the name of the singers is not mentioned/not known.
One song from this movie was posted on the blog almost ten years ago on 16.04.2013. This song is ‘laakh karo chaturaayi’ which was presented by Atul ji and in fact it was uploaded by him then, since the songs from this movie were not easily available at that time. However, now one can locate a few more songs of this movie that have since become available on the internet.
Today we listen to the second song from this movie. It is sung by Hamida Banu. As mentioned above lyrics for the today’s song are by Pt Indra and music is composed by Bulo C. Rani.
