#The Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
———————————————————————

Today’s song is from the 1962 movie ‘Rashtraveer Shivajee’. I had come across this song recently when I was presenting patriotic songs during Republic Day celebrations. I was looking for songs that praise our national heroes, freedom fighters, and the many unsung heroes who fought the battle for freedom. However, from time to time there have been courageous and brave sons and daughters of this land who fought to protect the native people of this country. They included rulers from various regions as well as people like Shivaji who created their own kingdom- or ‘Hindavee Swaraajya’ and gave fierce fights to rulers like Moghuls.

Mukesh and his Composers – 34

Do Badan (1966) song “Raha gardishon mein hardam” was first recorded in the voice of Mukesh for Ghunghat (1960), which belonged to the production house of Gemini Studios.
The producer S. S Vasan felt that the song was not aligning with the flow of the film and he recommended its exclusion.

Six years later, composer Ravi took permission from S. S Vasan and included the song in the film Do Badan, in the voice of Rafi. Of course, the said song as well as all others in Do Badan (1966) did become quite popular. But sadly, the unused Mukesh version is probably lost forever. According to some sources, composer Ravi was said to be in possession of the spool recording of this unused Mukesh song, but unfortunately, it was lost in the Mumbai floods of 2005. Thus, the only place where there is a remote possibility of this song being traced is Gemini Studios, the production house of Ghunghat (1960).
