The song in this post is from the movie ‘Dafaa 302-1975’. This movie is so far missing from the blog and today we are adding it to the tally of the movies on the blog.
Regulars on the blog would be aware that as this decade 2021-2030 began, we began to celebrate completion of Fifty Years of the decade 1971-1980. So every year of this decade we take up the missing movies of the year that was there fifty years back. We are in 2025 nowadays so we are covering missing films of 1975 these days.The year 1975 was a memorable year for the Hindi film industry and is remembered for some milestone movies of Hindi cinema like ‘Sholay’, ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’, ‘Deewaar’ etc. Movies like ‘Geet Gaataa Chal’, ‘Julie’, ‘Mausam’, ‘Chhotisi Baat’, ‘Rafoo Chakkar’, ‘Sanyaasi’, and ‘Pratigyaa’ were the other top successful movies of that year.
I had watched movies like ‘Sholay’, ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’, ‘Rafoo Chakkar’, ‘Sanyaasi’, ‘Dharam Karam’, ‘Do Jaasoos’, ‘Do Jhoothh’, ‘Himaalaya Se Oonchaa’, ‘Raftaar’, in theatre half a century ago either with parents or cousins. I may not have watched many movies released that year, but no one could miss listening to their songs because they were played on loudspeakers, radio etc all the time. Songs of the movie ‘Geet Gaataa Chal’ is one example. I watched this movie much later on TV. I will be discussing few such songs from movies which I watched in later years or even recently on TV, in my future posts.
“Dafaa 302-1975” was directed by Chand for ‘Fine Art Pictures, Bombay’. The subtitle of the movie mentions the detailed title as ‘India Penal Code “Section 302” (section of murder)’. This was a ‘रहस्य-प्रधान’ or suspense thriller movie. It was produced by B. Gupta who had also done the photography of this movie. Director Chand who directed this movie wrote the story of this movie as well.
The cast of this movie included Randheer Kapoor, Rekha, Premnath, Aruna Irani, and Roopesh Kumar, with Jairaj, Poornima, Faryal, Madan Puri, Asit Sen, Chandrashekhar, Namrata, Mohan Choti, Jagirdar, Coco Cola, Bindu, Maruti, Murad, Jagdish Raj, Kirti Behl, Bhalla, Dinanath, Randheer and others. Ashok Kumar and Ajit had friendly appearances in this movie. The playback singers were Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Manna Dey and Suman Kalyanpur. Editing was done by P.S. Wagle. All the songs in this movie were penned by Indeevar and music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
I do not remember to have listened to the songs of this movie in the past. But when I browsed through its songs recently, a couple of songs sounded familiar to me. I also watched some part of this movie but since this movie is a suspense thriller movie we will be throwing more light on this movie in future posts with more of its songs here.
The censor certificate caried in the online version of this movie shows the date of its passing by the censor board as 4th May of 1972. However as per Geet Kosh this movie was passed by censor board on 24.02.1975 and elsewhere also the year of this movie is mentioned as 1975. (So we will have to resolve this ‘mystery’ of dates? 🙂 ).
Today I am presenting the first song from this movie which is club dance party song. Bindu is seen performing on this song. Randhir Kapoor, Madan Puri, Mohan Choti and many others are also present in the picturisation. This song has some nice fast paced music. This song sounds like a Pancham composition. But this song is composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Lyrics are by Indeevar. Asha Bhonsle has given her voice to this rocking song.
Let us welcome ‘Dafaa-302- 1975’ on the blog. The video verison of this song has only two stanzas while the audio version is much longer and has four stanzas. The lyrics given here are as per the audio version of this song.
