“Laal e Yaman”(1956), a “costume drama” movie, was produced and directed by Nanubhai Vakil for Vakil Productions, Bombay. This movie had Daljit, Anita Guha, Minu Mumtaz,Al Nasir, Misha, Wazir Mohammad Khan, Niramjan Sharma, Manorama, Helen, Rajan Haksar, Ram Mohan, Sushil Kumar, Nadir Mota, Baby Rita etc in it.
“Laal e Yaman”(1956) had ten songs in it that were penned by three lyricists namely Kaifi Azmi (6 songs), Khumar Barabankwi (3 songs) and Kaif Irfani (one song). Music was composed by A R Qureshi. Asha Bhonsle, Rafi, Sabita Bannerjee, Shamshad Begam, Mubarak Begam, Manna Dey were the playback singers.
One song from the movie was covered in the blog as far back as in 2014.
Here is the second song from “Laal e Yaman”(1956) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Shamshad Begam and female chorus. Kaif Irfani is the lyricist. It was the only song for Shamshad Begm as well as Kaif Irfani in this movie. This song sounds like a dance song. It is unfortunate that no video of this song is available, so w cannot tell for sure who lip syncs this song on screen. I would dearly love to believe that this song was picturised on Helen as an item song. Minu Mumtaz too is another likely candidate on whom this song could have been picturised.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
