I have discussed songs from “Insaaf” (1956) and “Insaaf” (1966) in the past. It appears that a movie of this title was released at every 10 years inerval those days, seeing that there was a movie with this title in 1946 too. 🙂

Very little is known about music director Ram Laxman. Initially there were two of them, viz Ram Kadam and Vijay Patil who composed music as Ram Laxman. Ram Kadam died in 1976. But Vijay Patil continued to compose music as Ram Laxman. In fact, most well known movies with music by Ram Laxman came after 1976 when it was Vijay Patil alone composing music as Ram Laxman. Movies like “Maine Pyaar Kiya” (1989) and “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun”(1994) are the compositions of Ram Laxman.

“Ham Ek Hain” (1946) as the name suggests, was a movie on the theme of national unity. And all these children fall in love with persons of the relevant religious faiths and marry them with full parental approval. A very progressive movie indeed.:) Now we know the source of inspiration for Manmohan Desai’s “Amar Akbar Anthony”. 🙂

Today (8 september) is the birthday of S Mohinder, a music director of yesteryears who gave us some wonderful songs in the golden era of Hindi movie music. “Apna Paraaya” (1942) is an old and obscure movie. The only thing that I am able to find out about this movie is that it was directed by Ramchandra Thakur and that it had Hansa Wadkar as one of the actors. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie.
