In Hindi movies, we have teasing songs that are typically sung by male actors. I just realised that if there is a teaser, then there has to a a teased as well. and there are songs sung by teased as well. the teased lady would typically sing a song with words like “chhodo meri kalaayi”, “koi dekh legaa” etc etc.

“Milan” (1967) was a musical blockbuster. I remember its songs being all over the place when I was a very young kid. As a kid, I would have dearly loved to see this movie, but those days many parents rationalised that watching movies was bad for kids. There is nothing new in that. Every pleasurable activity known to mankind is always regarded as bad/illegal/immoral etc by authorities and therefore discouraged since time immemorial.

Manoj Kumar who played a patriotic Indian named “Bharat” in his movies from late 1960s onwards played a different “Non-Bharat” kind of role in “Beimaan” (1972). Beimaan means Dishonest and Manoj KUmar played the title role in this movie.

There are a few such songs which I never heard again for several decades. When one talks of “Dil Bhi Tera Ham bhi Tere” (1960), then only one song comes to the mind of most people and that song is Mujhko iss raat ki tanhaayi me aawaaz na do. But this movie had other songs in it too.
