A new film on the blog. And another one that tells us that the producers will go after some very strange names as the film title. Hollywood may have come out with films like ‘Telefon’, ‘Cellular’, ‘Phone Booth’ etc. much later. The Hindi film industry already had a film titled ‘Trunk Call’ way back in 1960. As I had mentioned in my post the day before, more news and information to share. Let me start by telling about the visitors we had in Delhi during the last four, five weeks. The first to come was Dr. M L Kapoor, from Suffolk, Virginia in the US. Dr. Kapoor is an avid lover of old Hindi films and film music. He is a diehard fan of Pankaj Mullick and Naushad. He has two cars, and the number plates of the cars carry the words ‘NAUSHAD’ and ‘PMULICK’. He is one of the guiding spirits behind the websites on KL Saigal, Pankaj Mullick and KC Dey. He is a doctor of internal medicine, now retired. His main area of interest is the films from New Theatres.

This song came to my mind, right out of the blue. It must have been 30 years since I last heard this song. At first I thought it was a Kishore Kumar song. Then I felt this is the song from film ‘Souten’ which had many versions. I remembered the whole mukhda and tune still I did not realise that it was a Rafi song. Than I said rather than speculating what song is this ‘gham chhupaate raho muskuraate raho’ let us find it. So I found this song on youtube, both audio and video link. This turns out to be a duet of Rafi Saab and Asha Bhonsle.
