In the Hindi Film Geet Kosh (HFGK), you find mention of the Genre of every film like Social, Mystery, Family, Historical etc etc. During the 50’s decade 2 types of films were common, which were categorised as भक्ति प्रधान (Religious) and पौराणिक (Mythological). Most people do not know what the difference is between these 2 categories. Films made on stories from the Holy Scriptures like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Puranas and Vedas are called पौराणिक (Mythological) e.g. Ram Rajya, Bharat Milan, Ghatotkach, Shri Ganesh Vivah etc. Films made on the events connected with or the life of Saints or Bhakts are categorised as भक्ति प्रधान (Religious) e.g. Bhakta Dhruv, Mahatma kabir, Sant Tukaram, Bhakta Pundalik etc etc. One has to remember that Bhakti Pradhan or Religious films are not from Mythology, but Pouranik or Mythological films are religious films as they are connected with the principles of Religion.Laxmi Narayan is considered as the most ideal couple wherein Beauty and Wealth are combined with the Supreme Power. In our day to day life, a couple with very good looks and matching to each other is called a “Laxmi- Narayan” joda.

The fever of king size success provided by the giant success of film Chandralekha-1948 continued to give Vasan similar positive returns. Today’s special post marks the 18400th song to be posted on the blog. It is being posted on 20th July 2024 which marks 52 years since the honey voiced Geeta Dutt left for her heavenly abode, too early at the age of just 41 years old leaving behind three children and a legacy that can never be forgotten by music lovers.
This post also marks her 1001st song to be posted on the group. We normally combine artists century songs with the blog’s century songs but we had erred in counting Geeta Dutt songs in the blog and She was already on 1000 songs. So this song is 1001st song of hers (sort of like a shagun) to mark the 18400th song on the blog.
Geeta Dutt is the fifth playback singer and 10th artist to complete 1000 songs in the blog. Lata, Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar are the other playback singers with 1000 plus songs in the blog. Today’s song is from a film made in Madras – ‘Naya Aadmi’ (1956).
The film was made by Jupiter Films, Madras, simultaneously along with the Telugu film ‘Santosham’. The cast was mainly from the South, taking few Hindi actors for the Hindi film, like Anwar Hussain, Gope and Helen (her first Telugu film incidentally, when she danced in film ‘Santosham’ also). The Music Director pair was Vishwanath – Rammurthy (their first Hindi film) with 8 songs and Madan Mohan with just 3 songs. The cast was Anjali Devi (South), NT Rama Rao, Jamuna, Raja Sulochana etc. For the Hindi lyrics it was, of course, Rajendra Krishna- the South’s favourite.
