Joy Mukherji, Debu Mukherji and Somu Mukherji were brothers and they were from a well connected family. Their father was Shashdhar Mukherji, a big name in Bollywood movie making. Their uncle (chacha) was Subodh Mukherji, the well known movie producer. From their mother’s side, they were connected to Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anup Kumar, who were their mamas.

“Haathi Mere Saathi” (1971) was a delight for kids when this movie was first released. It had everything that one needed. It had Rajesh Khanna, and it had elephants doing wonderful stuffs. What more does a kid and those young at heart want ?

Rajesh Khanna was the reigning superstar in early 1970s and Kishore Kumar was the reigning king among male playback singer. and both of them has annexed their crowns almost at the same time.

In “Des Pardes”, Pran goes to England as an immigrant and back home his wife Indrani Mukherji and Younger brother Dev Anand wait for any information from him. Dev Anand sings this song for Indrani Mukherji, informing her that Pran has sent a gift (Nazraana) from England.

Ye dil na hota bechaara

Once S D Burman went to watch the English movie “Bridge on the River Kwai”. There was a musical tune in that movie which Burman da liked very much. He continued to whisle that song the whole day and he made a tune inspired by that music. That tune was used in the song “ye dil na hota bechaara” in the movie “Jewel Thief”.
