This is the third song in the series ” Lata with uncommon singers”. Here Lata is with Shaukat Hyderi or Nashad. Yes, he is the same Nashad, Music Director, who gave several memorable songs in the 50s and 60s like ‘Tasveer banata hoon’ and ‘ O teer chalaanewaale’-both from Talat and ‘ Badi mushkil se dil ki’ by Shamshad Begum.

This is a song from LAJAWAB-1950. Anil Biswas was the Music Director. By 1950, he had been in the Hindi film industry for about 15 years. He was hailed as the original composer and also the senior most one to be called “Bhishma Pitamah” of the HFM. He had attained fame, name, money, love and position in the industry, but one thing always bothered him and that was that, he had not been able to compose any song for Saigal or Noorjehan.

One day, I was searching for something in the Hindi Film Geet Kosh (HFGK) by Harmandir Hamraz ji. While skipping through pages, I noticed a very peculiar thing. I sat up and started from the beginning all over again. I began from films of 1947 upto 1980 and confirmed what I had noticed.

Raaton ka Raaja (1970) is a ‘ B ‘ or ‘C’ grade movie, it seems to me, seeing the star cast of Dheeraj Kumar and Vaishali. At least Dheeraj Kumar is a known face, where as Vaishali is unknown actor. o what am I doing discussing song from this movie ? The answer is , this movie has a Rafi-Lata duet, written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R. D. Burman. Two songs from this movie are alreay posted in the blog.
