Many day to day activities, that many of us take for granted used to be (still is) very important household chores. One such activity is/ was bringing water. These days, many homes have water taps where they get water supplied from their municipal corporation and the householders need not go out of their homes to fetch water. But we still have a sizeable population who have to go out to bring water (either at community water taps, or at private or community wells/ tubewells, or at rivers/ ponds. This activity is mainly the preserve of womenfolk. and while these ladies are at it, they obviously exchange the latest gossips among themselves.

“Amar Shaheed” (1952) was an unreleased movie which is confused with a released movie called “Amar Shaheed” (1960). Our beloved in house encyclopeadia, Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh has clarified matters by telling us that the unreleased movie was produced and directed by Gajanan Jageerdar and it had Gajanan Jaageerdar and Leela Chitnis in main roles. This movie had Two music directors, viz. Vinod and Vasant Desai who had composed eight songs in it which remained unreleased for several years. In contrast, the released movie of 1960 was a dubbed movie from an original Tamil movie called “Veerpandiyan Kattaboman” starring Sivaji Ganeshan, Gemini Ganeshan, Padmini, Ragini and other Southern actors. This movie (dubbed in Hindi) had ten songs in it which were composed by Jamal Sen.
