When I began to follow movies in my younger days then at that time Rajesh Khanna was everyone’s favourite actor. Actors of the previous generation, viz Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand were considered as passe, especially by someone like me. I regarded Dev Anand as an old man trying to act as a youngster in his movies instead of acting in roles befitting his age.

Prima Facie, it would appear that most Shammi Kapoor style movies starring Shammi Kapoor had music by Shankar Jaikishan. But that is not really the case. There have been several music directors compositing music for Shammi Kapoor’s movies beginning from “Tumsa Nahin Dekha” (1957) when Shammi Kapoor finally came into his own.

If a Hindi movie is named “Sadhana”, “Raagini”, “Kalpana” etc then one can be rest assured that the movie will not have the actress of that name in these movies. But it is different with a movie title like “Johny Walker” (1957). This movie, which was a Natraj production movie directed by Ved Mohan, had Johny Walker in the title role. The movie also had Shyama, Tony Walker, Raj Mehra, Amar, Sulochana etc in it.
