The cast of this movie includes Sanjeev Kumar, Leena Chandavarkar, Bhagwan, Anwar Hussain, Satyen Kappu, Keshto Mukherjee, Murad, Krishnakant, Bhushan Tiwari, Viju Khote, Mohan Choti, Asha Potdar, Aarti, Johny Walker, Rajan Kapoor, Shivraj, Radheshyam, Narmada Shankar, Ramlal, Darshan, Mamaji, Nazeer Kashmiri, Kedar Sehgal and others. Today’s song is the last song from the film Lajawab-1950. With this song the film will be YIPPEED !
The year 1950 was the end of the second decade of the Talkie film. It has been just about 3 years since we got our Independence. The film industry seemed to stabilise after the upheaval caused by the mass migration of Muslim artists and technicians from India to their new Utopia – Pakistan. The second line of ‘ waiting in the Q’ artists had taken over without much trouble. The 20 year old ‘ Studio System’ was breaking up and Freelancing was the code now. The cost of film production, from a mere 30 to 40000 rupees in the early 30’s has now escalated to 5 to 6 lakhs per film. This was also due to the ever increasing star costs from 3-4 thousand per film to almost 50-60 thousand per film for ‘A’ grade actors. The Black money in the market was now freely used in the film industry.

This film was made by Pradhan films, Lahore.
In the Pre-Partition period, there were some important film centres like Bombay, Poona, Kolhapur, Calcutta and Lahore, as far as Hindi/Urdu films were concerned. Though comparatively Lahore was the youngest center, having made its first silent film only in 1924, experts across the border and in India claim that Lahore had the potential of becoming, if not bigger, but as big a center as Bombay ! In that era Lahore did make a lot of contribution in the field of acting, direction and music. Several experts have written long articles on Lahore’s standing in Hindi and Punjabi film making.
