Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

roz roz aankhon taley
roz roz aankhon taley
laalaa laa
laaalaalaa
lalalalalaalalaa
roz roz aankhon taley
ek hi sapnaa chaley ae ae
raat bhar kaajal jaley
aankh mein
jiss tarhaa
khwaab ka diyaa jaley
ho o
roz roz aankhon taley
ek hi sapnaa chaley ae
raat bhar kaajal jaley ae
aankh mein
jiss tarhaa
khwaab ka diyaa jaley
ho
roz roz aankhon taley

jab se tumhaari
naam ki misree
honth lagaayee hai
meethaa saa gham
hai aur
meethi si tanhaayee hai
jab se tumhaare
naam ki misree
honth lagaayee hai
meethaa saa gham
hai aur
meethi si tanhaayee hai ae
roz roz aankhon taley
ek hi sapnaa chaley ae
raat bhar kaajal jaley ae
aankh mein
jiss tarhaa
khwaab ka diyaa jaley
ho o
roz roz aankhon taley

chhoti si dil ki uljhan hai
ye suljhaa do tum
jeenaa to seekha hai mar ke
marnaa sikhaa do tum
chhoti si dil ki uljhan hai
ye suljhaa do tum
jeenaa to seekhaa hai mar ke
marnaa sikhaa do tum
roz roz aankhon taley
roz roz aankhon taley
laa laa laa
laaalaaaalaa
laaaaaalaaalaa
lalalalalaalaa
ho
roz roz aankhon taley
ek hi sapnaa chaley
raat bhar kaajal jaley ae
aankh mein jiss tarhaa
khwaab ka diyaa jaley
ho
roz roz aankhon taley

aankhon par kuchch
aise tumne
zulf giraa dee hai
bechaare se
kuchch khwaabon ki
neend udaa dee hai
ho o
aankhon par kuchch
aise tumne
zulf giraa dee hai
bechaare se
kuchch khwaabon ki
neend udaa dee hai
roz roz aankhon taley
ek hi sapnaa chaley
raat bhar kaajal jaley
aankh mein
jiss tarhaa
khwaab ka diyaa jaley

ho
roz roz aankhon taley
ek hi sapnaa chaley
raat bhar kaajal jaley
aankh mein
jiss tarhaa
khwaab kaa
diyaa jaley

Lovely song. One of the best of Gulzar saab. The movie when released in 1986 was a huge flop and so the music also went un-noticed. But the elite listeners would have noted this song. An interesting fact about this song is that initially it was a solo song by Asha Bhonsle. But when Sanjay Dutt heard it, he loved the song and he wanted to lip sync the song. Thus one more antara was written and it was now a duet with Amit Kumar coming in.

Amit Kumar himself mentioned in one of his interviews that this song wasn’t popular when the movie released, but it’s popularity soared only in last 15-18 years.I remember that I came to know about this song years later after the movie was relased- perhaps in late 90s or early 2000. I had bought an audio cassette of songs which contained lesser known songs of 80’s. In that cassete there were songs from Savare wali Gaadi, Zameen Aasman, Jeeva, Teri Baahon Mein etc. It was then that I came to know about the existence of this song. What beautiful song and so romantic lyrics. The prelude music of the song is also very nice. Hats off to R.D Burman and Gulzar.

Aankhon per kuchh aise tumne zulf giraa di hai
Becharey se kuchh khwaabon ki neend udaa di hai

Only Gulzar saab could write something like this!
