Almost every person has a Photo Album,with his photos of childhood,marriage,office,friends,relatives etc. Human nature is such that we wish to capture the ” FIRSTS ” in our life through memories and photographs. Your First close friend, first day of married life,first day of Job etc. In olden days, this was not a routine, so many senior citizen do not have their childhood or schooldays photos. This shortcoming is well compensated now, with photos of sons, grandsons etc. Son’s First Birthday or his First walk etc are carefully recorded and they serves as source of pleasure whenever browse through them.

Mubarak Begam enthralled music lovers with her fresh and original voice in 1950s and 1960s, but she was soon edged out of contention by the bigger and established names in the industry and she faded away. Little was known about the whereabout of Mubarak Begam for the next four decades or so when an interview of Mubarak Begam appeared in 2010.

The 5th song in the series “Gems from obscure films” is really a GEM of a song which was honoured by HMV by including it in the ” Film hits of Mubarak Begum”. It is from an obscure film called ” Khooni Khazaana”-1965. It was sung by Mubarak Begum under the baton of an obscure and less known composer- S Kishen.
