Today (1 october) is the birth anniversary of Majrooh Sultanpuri (1 october 1919 – 24 may 2000), who was easily the most prolific lyricist during the golden era of Hindi movie music. Born as Asrar Ul Hasan Khan, Majrooh Sultanpuri began his career as a lyricist in 1946 with “Shahjahaan” (1946). He must have got along well with almost all music directors, seeing that he worked with most music directors of the golden era.

Today (29 september) is the birth anniversary of Mehmood Ali Khan, known to movie watchers simply as Mehmood. Mehmood (29 September 1932 – 23 July 2004) made his debut in Hindi movies as a child actor in 1940s and then graduated as a grown up actor in 1950s. He became a comedian who commanded his own CSP (Comic side plot) in Hindi movies of 1950s and 1960s.

Different people like different kinds of songs. When I was young, I loved to listen to light hearted and playful songs especially those sung by Kishore Kumar. Now I find that my taste has become more diversified. 🙂 I now like songs of lots of genre.
