Raja of Jhumri Tilayya, oops, Holland, keeps wondering why I did not post this song, and whether I did not like this song. Rest assured , Raja, I like all songs of Shammi Kapoor, or for that matter, songs picturised on any other actors, and there is no way I would not have liked this song.

Listening to this Mukesh song all these years without any additional information, I thought that this song had all the attributes of a Raj kapoor song. It was sung by Mukesh, lyrics looked Shailendra like and music appeared Shankar Jaikishan like, and I was sure that the song was picturised on Raj Kapoor.

Shammi Kapoor, who started his career with a whimper in 1950s, began to create waves in 1960s, beginning with “kashmir Ki kali”, and ever since, all his subsequent movies saw him playing similar roles in movies with similar story lines.
One common thread in all these movies used to be lilting music, typically sung by Rafi with gusto.
