While looking for some other songs to discuss, I have come across this wonderful song about which I knew nothing. This song is from a forgotten movie called “Ek Do Teen” (1953). This movie had Motilal,Meena Shorey,Om Prakash,Indira Bansal,Majnu, Yashodhara etc in it.

I am a big fan of Ravi. He is perhaps the only music director who was around when the golden era of Hindi movie music began to the time this era was finally gone for ever. His career began as a chorus singer in late 1940s,then he became assistant to Hemant Kumar (he was his assistant in “Naagin” (1954)) and then he became an independent music director with “Vachan” (1955). From then on till 1980s, he composed songs, many of which became so popular that they ended up becoming iconic songs. I in fact describe Ravi as a composer of iconic songs.

“Half Ticket” (1962) was a laugh riot which continues to be a much loved movie even to this day among those who enjoy watching comedy movies.

It is a very long song, which is one second short of 10 minutes long. And the song is so nice to listen to that these 9:55 minutes pass in a trice. Initially Asha Bhonsle sings the song and towards the second half of the song, Kishore Kumar makes a cameo appearance.
