A natural talent that made a significant impression when launched, but eventually could not compare to the range and versatility of its peers.
Another reason often mentioned is the simplicity and the lack of awareness of the machinations of the film world. An innocent contravention, and the anchor support was taken away. And then the talent transmogrified into another role. And the resulting fun and laughter, then lasted a good half a century.

Remembering Uma Devi on the anniversary of her birth today – 11th July, 2013.

The Voice of Mukesh #23

Wow, probably the best specimen of a ‘roothna – manaana’ song, if ever there was one. And done with such merriment and such a ticklish and playful performance by both the parties involved. I am glad the video of this song is available. Even after 66 years, the effect of this song and its visual has such a rollicking effect. I am sure you are going to love this song.

Only last week, it suffered a blow, with a steel bowl. And the key ‘ e ‘ came loose. It just wouldn’t stick in its place, I had all sorts of trouble in completing the last write up. Ideally I should have tried to complete the write up without using ‘e’. It is possible, as I read a paragraph on facebook, completely devoid of the alphabet ‘e’. Maybe next time this sort of thing happens, with a little used alphabet”s key than, it should be worth trying.
