Aadi Narayana Rao and directed by Vedantam Raghavaiah in 1957, the Hindi version Suvarna Sundari (original in Telugu) is rightfully remembered most for its iconic raagmalika (a multi-raag number) – perhaps a first in a Hindi movie – the famed Lata-Rafi duet Kuhu-kuhu bole koyaliya. There were two Hindi movies with the title “Yahudi Ki Ladki”. The first one was produced in 1933 and the other one was produced in 1957. As many as four songs from the 1933 movie has been discussed and none from the other movie of the same title.

Today(25th may) happens to be the seventh death anniversary of Sunil Dutt (6 june 1929-25 may 2005). Born Balraj Dutt, Sunil Dutt was one of the earliest Radio Ceylon announcers before he got his break in Hindi movies in “Railway Platform” (1955).

“Tumsa Nahin Dekha” (1957) is the movie where Shammi Kapoor finally got transformed from a struggling underconfident actor to a successful confident star. He was quite fortunate to get the opportunity to work in this movie because Shammi Kapoor was nowhere near being the first choice for this movie.
