It is practically impossible to talk of actors or hit films of Bollywood of the early 70s and not speak of Rajesh Khanna in the same breath. He was synonymous with Bollywood hit movies at that time and though other heroes did manage a few hits between them, he was THE towering figure amongst them all at that time.

I have mentioned that Ganesh is one music director who unfortunately did not get the credit that he so richly deserved. His songs are so difficult to come by and even in these songs we often find his name missing. Even the uploaders of his songs are often unaware about Ganesh.

Manoj Kumar who played a patriotic Indian named “Bharat” in his movies from late 1960s onwards played a different “Non-Bharat” kind of role in “Beimaan” (1972). Beimaan means Dishonest and Manoj KUmar played the title role in this movie.

In early 1970s, Hindi movie songs were becoming daring and we had many songs in those days where the lyrics were far too direct and to the point, instead of beating about the bush.

Here is a song whose farmaish was given by a reader Sunit but I was unable to post it since I was neither aware of this song nor was I able to locate it. Raja very kindly provided me the link of this song with the comment that this song was a popular song of his (and my) childhood days.

O P Nayyar, who ruled the roost in Hindi movie music scene in 1950s and 1960s had lost much of his ground by the end of 1960s. But I find that the music that he created in his last few movies was perhaps as outstanding as any music that he created in his earlier more heralded music. It is another matter that the music of these movies were not lapped up as much as they should have been for various reasons.

O P Nayyar ruled the roost in Bollywood movie music in late 1950s and early 1960s with his characteristic music. During this phase, Rafi and Asha Bhonsle were his male and female singers of choice.
